Treliving already said before the Van series that Bennett was "here to play" and it was entirely up to the coaches as to whether he was in or out. Their focus was entirely on winning. (Someone probably has the audio clip of that somewhere.) Seemed like a pretty clear message that if they had to burn a year of his ELC they were perfectly prepared to do so.

Was it Hrudey or Freidman that said on the panel last night "Flames have lost 20 straight in Anaheim.....so they'll probably win the series" ??
Funny, and probably true with this team.

The difference between Anaheim and Calgary in the regular season was six wins.
We lost some strange games to Buffalo, Florida, Toronto, Carolina, and a preseason game to the Jets that somehow counted.
So really, these guys are only two points better than us. Which is basically the consequence of our season series with them, which they edged out due to a regulation win in which we had a 2-1 lead going into the third and couldn't hold it - one of only two times this entire season that happened. But with the most recent 6-3 win, Flames have shown that the Ducks don't intimidate.
We can do this. But if we don't, we still draft higher than Vancouver - HAH!

Context. This board is actively trying to be more positive and not make comments disparaging to the opposite sex. As in taunting a man by comparing him to a woman in a negative way.
So someone on this board who is privy to that discussion and who still goes there... yeah, kind of a d-bag.

"Well, if you take out the games we lost, these guys aren't any better than us!"
Interesting logic.

This season has been a complete success already!
As long as we play hard, put up a good fight and learn what it takes to compete against a heavy #1 seed, I don't have any expectations at all.

Keep up the physical work. Getzlaf and perry won't be able to work their magic if Ferland leaves them laying on the ice. Having an eye on them and vatanen will be the keys to this series.

If Calgary doesn't get intimidated early by the fact that I ducks won the division, I think the series will be really close. Anaheim only had 2 more ROWs than Calgary during the year, and had an amazing record in one goal games. Calgary's goal differential in the season also outpaced the Ducks, +25 vs +10.
Anaheim just seems to have a knack for scoring that clutch goal at the right time. The so called "back breaker". After seeing what happened last night, I find it hard to believe any of the Flames will have that feeling after any goal. Could be a great series!

Playoffs don't count toward the waiver eligibility rule - but Bennett was never going to get to 41 games anyway. They do count against the 10 game limit.

This, and the fact that, jokes like those are one-offs. Even if they ARE funny (I don't personally find them particularly clever), when you've heard it once, it's shelf-life has expired.

I'm sorry but this kind of attitude is absolutely ridiculous to me. Everyone is offended by something these days. It's called ribbing an a opposing player. Katy Perry is a female pop singer. If she was talented at hockey and I was calling Cory Perry her name just because she was a female then YES that would be disparaging to the opposite sex. I don't know maybe I have different perspective but I don't see it being sexist at all. Maybe some of our female posters can chime in?
If we're gonna censor this kind of thing then might as well not let god damns and jesus christs on here as well, don't wanna leave out the religious crowd.

Yeah, the amount of development that he's supposedly missing out by not going through a full season is made up for in multiples by the pressure of a 6 game, highly intense series.
Making the playoffs through the 82 game grind (including without the captain) sped up the overall development plan for this team by at least a year...getting through the first round given the circumstances, maybe even another year in some individuals cases.
Flames just need to steal one in ANA. Clearly have to play a different defensive style; whereas they just had to contain the Sedins and their down low/cross ice passes. Getzlaf, Perry and Kesler are different beasts.
Everything was bonus after the Kings game, whereas past playoff series, getting through the first round was essential. This is a double bonus.
And the goalie chant should be continued at the Dome...makes a lot more sense, in theory, to get in the goalie's head rather than a forward who plays 1/3 of the game.

Remember when the Flames beat the Nucks in 2004? A lot of people said, yeah, that's great but no way they are beating Detroit in the next round so enjoy the first series' win now.
Well. Here we are again.
Should be fun.

Okay how about this:
Last year Anaheim lost in the second round to the third seed in the Pacific Division.
We are this year's third seed in the Pacific Division.

The past is the past.. I don't give a rats' arse if the Flames haven't won a game in Anaheim in 20 games. This is playoff and as I remember correctly, the series starts with 0 win and 0 lost. Next week is the beginning. Media and the fans can doubt the Flames can win this series all they want but in the end I still think the Flames will prove them wrong again. I think the Flames will steal a win at Honda Centre in the first two games. If that happens I like our chances.

You need to host it on a site like imgur or photobucket or wherever online, then use the [IMG] markup to share it on the boards. Try using the Testing forum to get the hang of it.

Aside from being sexist, it is just really lame and unfunny.
Playground humor. Beavis and Butthead level.

Last night's win was my second best time being in the Saddledome, with the win against Detroit to win the series being the first... I couldn't believe the Flames actually beat Detroit who at the time were the heavy favourites, and it happened.
I don't expect the Flames to win the next series, but all of the nay-saying on this board and others reminds me a lot of 2004. This team has the kind of grit that does not show up in the stats, they can will their way to a win when the stats say they should lose.
All I'm going to do is continue to enjoy the ride. And eat some Peking Duck.
