Just got back from running up and down the Red Mile for the last 45 minutes. My hand feels like it's going to fall off after giving high fives to so many complete strangers.
At least as far as I saw, everyone was joyous and friendly. I didn't witness any harassment at all, even where the crowd was thickest outside National and The Ship. At one point I even heard a bunch of guys chanting "RE-SPECT WO-MEN".

Back from a walk from the game to 5th St.
Fantastic atmosphere, heard no comments to all the ladies/girls/women at all, gridlock hit in front of the Ship...just the spontaneous joy, people hanging out of cars, cops giving high 5's.
Helps that was walking with all those coming from the game, but everyone having a great time.

Agreed. We walked it from the 'dome to National. Was fun, and nothing offside.
One guy tried the "Flames in six, show your tits". I said that's not how we're doing it this year. He said ok and that was it.

Are you sure you're not Ken King?

I had that exact same experience, and it seemed just fun and awesome. My throat feels like I swallowed a cheese grater this morning after cheering yelling all night, and I'm surprised my hands don't hurt after high fiving basically everyone on 17th ave, but that was just a fun and enjoyable night.

That was one of the best days of fandom ever, celebrating a win with friends and fellow flames fans just awesome. Hopefully the people who were feeling iffy about it give it a try, they really missed out by not being there.

The intersection at the national and the ship was by far the epicentre of the party last night. We were right in the middle of what must have been 1000 people just jumping around celebrating. What a time, kids and families everywhere, and no harassment at all! Go Flames Go!

Everybody was great, the atmosphere was positive and people were behaved. Only thing I would say is that F$@# the Nucks chants would have been better as Go Flames Go chants.

Hell I even saw 'nucks fans along the red mile. They weren't getting harassed or punched out. One very confused/drunk guy was even in the middle of the street with his blue jersey on waving a Flames flag. Someone has to have a picture of it.
Seemed like lots of good clean fun everywhere...maybe it was too cold for flashing.

the above is proof that the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. was all clean, respectful fun when I walked down there too. even if there are a few individuals that are exhibiting inappropriate behaviour, in all likelihood they'll either get drowned out or called out by the many more actual fans around them.
of course things are bound to arise if a month from now the Flames are still relevant as the party will grow exponentially with each round. but so far, it's been way better than past years.

Maybe it's proof that the negative attention has resulted in less bad behavior.

I got a text from a nucks fan saying. "We can't talk about Vancouver rioting anymore after Calgary fans trashed a bunch of stores downtown" i don't live in Calgary so I'm assuming it's just bs?

Awesome to hear it's back to 04 levels of behaving, damn I wanted to go so bad. This run just has that same, magic feeling.
Unfortunately I've been laid up with that nasty cold/flu that's going around, so the most I could muster after the game was briefly driving to the street with all the pubs by my house, then driving back again, beeping and giving thumbs up at people in Flames jerseys. Haha it wasn't quite the same experience.

Pure fantasy from that nucks fan. Calgary police declared it was spirited, yet responsible celebrations. Sounds like the type of rumour that would catch fire on social media "I heard the Flames fans are trashing stores" and dozens of people accept it as gospel.

I live in Mission and partied on the Red Mile until 3AM.
This morning, my fiancé and I drove up 17th to have lunch, and you could not even tell anything happened besides a few hungover fans still in there jerseys making there way home. Pretty sure your Canuck friend is full of crap.
