I cannot see them keeping all of them, one, if not two, will be traded IMO.

The avs look like they have several veteran contracts coming off the books at the same time. So I don't think its a major concern, and Edmonton won't have that much cap space that they can throw a ton of money around.

Plus if Edmonton opens that portal then Colorado turns around the next year and puts in a massive offer on McDavid just to force Edmonton to sign him at a huge cost.

We'll see... I can see Colorado in a tough spot. Tyson Barrie is gonna be real good though, would be worth it.

I don't think the Avs will have the $$ to OS CMD... my bet? The new Vegas team will.

unless the Oiler's give an offer sheet in a range that gives the Avs something that they can't refuse, they'll sign him.

I think that they'll probably dump ROR in the off season though.

Edmonton should totally go for that, they need more high priced forwards.

As long as Colorado doesn't sign any Brad Stuart esque contracts they should be okay, Johnson and Barrie are the two guys they cannot afford to lose.

Ehhh I think this is just another level of insulation for Lowe. He will just use longer strings. If things ever turn around and start to look promising he will turf the puppets and try to make himself the hero.

Looks like Kevin Lowe is in charge of some entertainment position.

Damn, I knew Bob Nicholson was a good hire for the Edmonton Oilers. He is the only smart one in that organization and having said that, he did not hesitate to get rid of the organization of all the ex-Oiler players from management. I think Chiarelli is the best person for the job for this Mickey Mouse organization. They won't be the laughing stock of the NHL. If Chiarelli find the right coach, starting goaltender and add a couple or 3 top 6 defensemen, they'll be competitive. I believe Chiarelli will dangle one or two of Taylor Hall, Nail Yakupov or Jordan Eberle to get the players they needed. It will not happen in the first year but I think they are really going to have a rebuild starting this season. No more arrogant Hockey Ops and GM mentality. I got the feeling Oilers might go after McLellan, maybe Julien if he gets fired in Boston and my long shot is Brent Sutter.

As a Flame fan, I do not like this move. I was hoping for the 2 clowns to stay as long as they can.

McKinnons ELC expires after next season. Colorado's issue this year is Ryan O'Reilly.

As for the Oilers they have a lot of money committed upfront. Keep in mind that McDavid won't be free, he's still going to need 4 million in cap space with his bonus cusions which he will hit if he's as good as projected.
They're already into the big 3 for 18 million. Add in 4 million for Pouliot, 3 for Boyd Gordon, 2.5 for Yakupov.

That's already a lot of dough up front. The Oilers do need to re-allocate some of that forward money elsewhere.

With zero power. They really can't do anything truly harmful or impactful anymore.

If the oilers don't make the playoffs with the assets the oilers currently possess, then PC sucks too in my mind

Finally a step in the right direction! It's been a tough stretch being a fan but I think the worst is behind with Lowe out of the hockey side of things and MacT no longer GM. McDavid is an unbelievable asset to build around. Hopefully McLellan or Babcock is the new head coach of this team. Lots of work to do to be competitive but this is a huge step forward.

I just find it funny that Lowe and MacT still have jobs after all of this.

Lol, its crazy how Katz just refuses to let Lowe and MacT go. He should just hire them as "special consultants" and just have them as part of his personal entourage. Round up Mess and Gretz, and he's putting the ol' gang back together.

I hope that Lowe and MacTavish's new positions come with pay raises. They deserve it IMO
