Similar to Messier gaurenteeing win in game 6 in 1994 for the Rangers. A bold move and I like it!

You know what I mean....choking a 3-1 series lead. Canucks fans will never let us live it down. It wouldn't matter if it was against any other team. Then I wouldn't care as much.

We need to close out this series.

Choking a 3-1 lead means nothing if we win game 7.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

They can start bragging about it. Fine. Just remind them the blew th SC finals while leading and every year since the only won a game in each series up till this one.

Considering expectations were 30-26 place for the Flames. Anybody razzes you take it as a grain of salt.

Like a birthday wish, you're not supposed to tell anybody... He should have said it in his mind and delivered. His game has been good for the playoffs.

Tough to say. The Flames looked like an AHL team tonight. I sure hope they play a heck of a lot better at home, or this series might be Vancouvers.

Exactly the same as Johnny saying "we're definitely making the playoffs" - dunno why people are bothered about it. At least Backs' line looks more true from the position we're currently in.

Whatever, if it helps get the boys going that's all that matters. We can't control how the Canucks approach a game.

I'd think the Canucks are already as motivated as they can get, so who cares what they can throw on a bulletin board? It's not like they will just be content with their season ending otherwise.

I have no problem with what he said, he didn't really guarantee it in the way I was expecting from the thread title.

Last playoff series I recall Mike Cammalleri guaranteeing that we would win the series when it was tied 2-2 and of course we didn't and he was a non-factor the rest of the series. Any player who makes such a bold claim needs to be prepared to lead by example and play their best hockey. Backlund had a good game last night and hopefully the best is yet to come from him in this series.

One player doesn't mark future results for a whole team.

I think social media for players is wrong for this one reason.

Love it.

Love Backlund. Probably the most underrated player on the team by Flames fans.

Ah yes, Backlund, he of one assist in five games this series.

Hopefully he'll pot a goal or two along with that guarantee.

He was one of the best forwards for the Flames last night but he's been ice cold for the better part of a month. Hopefully he can back up his words with his play because with the first line being invisible the Flames really need another line to step up offensively.

How's your draft party shaping up?

Will the Buffalo fans cheer as loud as when they got scored against at home?

I don't see anything wrong with it. Only the way they perform on the ice can change the outcome.

I don't really care, but now that he said it he better lead by example. He needs to be the best player on the ice on Saturday.

Is this on topic? Does the fact I'm a Sabres fan (which is news to absolutely no one as I've been here for ten and a half years) necessitate some childish quip about them at every possible turn?

I made a post about Backlund needing to back up his words with offense. How you relate this at all to the Buffalo Sabres, their season, their draft, or a regular season game against the Arizona Coyotes would be an interesting connection to see. Please elaborate.
