"There's a very good likelihood that there will be officers that you don't see as well," he says.

Why not just have them all wear uniforms? No(sane) person is going to cause trouble in front of a cop, why not just make their presence known as a deterrent rather than try and catch people in the act.

They do have uniformed officers, and I am guessing more than enough to act as a visual deterrent. Having plain clothes mingle about is the right thing to do as well. Good recon is good. Besides, if you're a good observant little boy/girl, it's pretty easy to pick up on a plainclothes officer too.

So will they burn the place down in Vancouver tonight when they lose or will they be civilized like most NHL fans.
I remember when Calgary won the cup only 3 arrests despite 200,000 people downtown to celebrate and i dont remember of any big trouble when Calgary lost to Tampa Bay in the finals.

I've had this weird feeling all day. A tingle of constant anticipation not that something bad could happen, but that something good will. I haven't felt this way in a long time, maybe say 11 years long...

Honestly, I really don't think there crowds are at all that big during round 1 vs. the cup finals to really allow those turd disturbers to start a riot.
during their cup run the crowds in Van were at a critical mass. I suspect you'll really only see the arena crowd tonight.
Better to be safe than sorry, so I like that the Vancouver Police are going to be out in force tonight.
I do find it funny though the difference between CGY and VAN as cities, one city gets in trouble for Boob showing and being happy and the other city starts urban campfires with cars.

The Flames-Canucks game will begin on Sportsnet One if the Red Wings-Lightning game goes into overtime. The Blue Jays game should be over on that channel, if not, the Pacific and West channels will have the beginning of the game.

No, they'll just bitch the next morning about who needs to be traded or fired. It's happened every year I've lived out here.

I think they're too apathetic to burn it down this time, but then again Vancouver is no good.

The police did this back in 1995 when the Canucks played the Blues in game seven.
