Dave Tomlinson on the TEAM 1040 speculated about 30 mins. ago that Baertschi will be playing with a massive chip on his shoulder. He says that when Beartschi was assigned #27 last year—after Burke's silly moratorium on high Jersey numbers—he didn't "feel the same" in a different number. He should be feeling justifiably slighted now with Ferland (#79) and Bennett (#93) in the Flames lineup with no mandated number correction.
So much ignorance. So much desperation. So much false hope.

Very little chance of seeing Gio back before Bouma - my understanding was in a best case scenario you could see Bouma by Round 3 and Gio (remote possibility) could be ready in the final round.

The Flames have been getting better with each game. The Canucks have not.
And the Flames have demonstrated more desire to win.
I also believe that, while the Flames started with a lot of injuries, they're getting healthier. Meanwhile the Nucks, having started healthier, are getting pretty banged up.
I think the Nucks might have one more win in them, but even if they do win tonight, it's over in 6 anyway.
They will push hard early of course, but I think they probably need 3 goals in the first. Anything less, and I think the Flames take the game over in the final 2 periods and come back to win it.

Wait - he was PO'd that he was given a low number - Burke's usual sign that he was an NHLer? Most guys would be happy - it was a big deal for Jooris.
Anyway, Sven has had a chip on his shoulder for 2 years now, and it hasn't improved his play.

Jesus Sven, just how fragile are you? Does a piece of cloth in a different shape on your back really affect your game that much? Pathetic.

Pretty sure Sven had #27 in Portland.

Now there's confirmation that Baertschi is a bit of a headcase!

Yeah, Sven's never going to make it in this league if that's the kind of stuff that gets to him. What a head case.
Really hoping Ferland lays him out with a hard, clean check tonight. Hopefully it's a hit that makes all his others in this series seem weak by comparison.

Anybody remember the goal Gilmour scored, in game six, of the '89 Stanley Cup final and the look he had in his eyes? Killer instinct in spades. I would love to hear of the coaching staff showing this beauty to the team before tonight's game. GO FLAMES GO!!!

Hilarious that van has been harboring the mentally weak now through two different regimes. games 1-4, you'd be hard pressed to find players that make that team weaker in the head. Enter Sven and Miller. LOL!

The Flames can win if they keep up their absolutely killer forecheck. Watching them in the third period of the last game they were relentless - often one guy in with three 'Nucks around and whoever was forechecking could tie up the entire group for 15-30 sec. Superb to watch!!
Not nervous about Miller. The Flames have beaten good goalies before. Hope the coaches keep them loose - and determined. If they have their instincts working, I just can't see them not winning.
First line needs to be a little less "cute" with passing - something they did a bit of in the 3rd period last game, but their checking was so awesome, I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt on that!
Go Flames Go - and close this one out!!
