Not once have I said its OK. But this is no different than a woman going to a bar where there are large crowds and knowing she looks hot and knows she's likely going to get hit on and is prepared to deal with it. She is educated by her peers and also protected. In most cases.
Is it right that she gets the unwanted attention? Some may argue that she put herself in that situation knowing that she would potentially be " harassed ".
...
Bottom line.

Some may be idiots. So?
No one is being a knight in shining armour. But you are basically saying girls who go to the red mile (which is where the bars are closest to the dome) are partially to blame for being harrassed.
"Those guys kept after me to lift my top and I couldn't just walk down the street with my friends" "Well you should have known better than to go there".
Prepare to be harrassed? How 'bout not harrassing them instead. you can minimize the behaviour and pretend you are just being real about its existence but the effect is victim blaming.
Oh and "bottom line"? Really?

Actually i don't and I changed edited my post to read:

Women can be violent towards or sexually harass other women and men.
Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Real men don't harass women.
They don't need boobie shows. They certainly don't need them in public.
Real men stand up for humanity, compassion and caring and protect those who are abused, mistreated or harassed.
And most assuredly, real men don't blame others for their own actions, or try to excuse their own actions as "just a bit of fun" when it causes distress to other people. Drunk or not (perp or victim) it's just not cool.
I am absolutely appalled at some of the comments on this forum attempting to blame the women (girls?), or provide some sort of "rationale" for why it's OK for certain age groups or in the context of the Flames victories. I like boobs as much as the next guy, but I certainly don't condone a crowd attempting to force exhibitionism.
Just. Grow. Up.

It isn't semantics, it's flat out wrong. Especially in a thread that started with a group of women trying to create a less threatening environment on 17th.
|
Sorry, but it's 100% on the people doing the harassing to stop harassing. If you want to say that women also engage in harassment I'm not going to disagree, but the ratio of men:women doing it isn't even close.

Its not like these girls are being blindsided.
If they chose to go down there, they need to be prepared to potentially be harassed, in that be prepared to protect themselves by removing themselves from the situation and/or standing up against it.
It's not right, but these guys are being encouraged by the girls that are actually lifting their shirts and enjoying the crowds chanting at other girls lifting g their shirts. In many pictures, girls are seen chanting and smiling and cheering on these girls.
As much as guys are responsible for being g A-holes, girls are equally as responsible. IMO.

And I daresay the small number of women doing it are not looking to see boobs - they are looking to see a girl respond to chanting and mock or laugh at it.

FML, this is exactly my earlier point. He didn't say that. You can be opposed to certain behaviour and also be opposed to hyperbolic rhetoric used to denounce it.

It's game day after 5 years out of the playoffs. We have a chance to advance on to the second round for the first time in over decade by embarrassing our heated rival and this friggin' thread is at the top of the page.
Seriously, who ####ing cares.

I'm not going to go completely heteronormative and suggest there aren't any women down there that don't want to see boobs, but yeah you're probably right. Slut-shaming and internalized misogyny are real phenomenons.

I do, for one.
I'm a fan, and Red Mile has become a big part of the experience of being a fan in the playoffs here.
I also have the ability to think about two things at once.

Protip: If you wanna see a girls boobs, don't chant aimlessly like a moron. Strike up a conversation and find a way to get her talking about them herself. From there on in, it's a layup and you're probably getting laid too.

I want you to think about exactly what would happen if someone *literally* said that publicly amongst mixed company. They would kick over a hornets nest at best, get their ass beat for being racist ####wits at worst.
What would I do in either circumstance? I would stand up and let them know that won't be tolerated, and I would get everyone around me to concur. The fact that most people would treat these situations differently says a lot.
