Can anybody remember a player physically dominating another team in a playoff series the way that Ferland has so far?
Unbelievable. Forget under their skin, he's giving them all an existential crisis.
Best comparison I can think of is Gary Roberts when he played for Toronto, and pretty much destroyed that team with his physical play every time he was out there.
I really have no idea how good Ferland is going to get - but even if he becomes Gary Roberts' 'just before twilight years', he will be a spectacular depth player. I wouldn't bet on Ferland being "prime Gary Roberts", but hey, who knows? I wouldn't bet against it either.
I am still thinking Chris Simon. A much less crazy and much more controlled Chris Simon.
I'd like to see more from Ferland before I buy in. He's having a fantastic playoffs, but he was also invisible for lots of the 26 regular season games and many adirondack games. He has the tools to be great, but this isn't enough proof to me to believe he's this good or more for the future.
I've checked a few times but can't find a gif of Ferland taking the puck from Bieksa inside the blue line. That look on Bieksa's face is priceless. Anybody have one? Or can point me in the direction of the spot I missed? Thanks!

That's fair.
He sure is a hell of a skater though.

This.
The thing that I love most about Ferland's emergence in this series is the confirmation it will give him that he's making the right choices and going down the right path. Huge confidence boost. It will likely result in him taking his conditioning to the next level and making proper choices in regards to fitness and nutrition this summer....coming back next year even more focused and ready to kick some ass.
Yeah, even the Vancouver sports writers are going on about all of Ferland's "illegal" hits...as far as I can tell they are the only people in the world who think this way.

If Baertschi doesn't play Game 5, then all hope is lost and there's no point even trying to turn on your TVs

I don't know...in the context of what's been called in the series it's not worthy of a call, but the principle point of contact (deliberate or not) was definitely the head.
I think Canucks fans would have more of a case if Hamhuis had been suspended for his hit (not saying that intent, or severity were the same in both hits, just that both had primary contact with the head).

that is so awesome, these prospects are coming out of the weeds for this flames team.
it sure looks like ferland's here to stay and when you factor in guys like poirier that also have unique skill sets, a guy has to wonder how good this team will be in two years.
