They are obviously looking for direction. Bring him in for an interview. Ask what he would do in Lowe's shoes to fix the coilers. Use that info, and claim they know what they're doing. Classic stuff

I'm betting that they won't be "let go"... by which I mean they will be let go but kept on in some capacity with reduced (or no) authority.

Something like Chiarelli get's hired as POHO, MacTavish stays as "GM" but is basically an AGM (for a little while), Lowe becomes "Senior Consultant"... which is basically a nothing job that they move him to so that he gets the dignity of not being fired/relieved-of-his-duties until his contract runs out.

Doubt it, the days of a dynasty are pretty much dead. Look at LA and Boston and how hard it is to maintain it.

The circus entertainment up in Oilerland might be over though...sucks...

I said this to a number of my pals who are Oil fans and they all agreed. Katz should never have allowed MacT to address the media after winning the draft lottery.

And as a signal to McDavid and his family and to the NHL generally that amateur hour is finally over Katz should have fired Lowe and MacT the next day.

There is no way those clowns should be rewarded any longer for running that circus.

For some of us, they've never left.

Katz to Lowe: "Remember that resignation letter you gave me last year and I turned it down? Can you be a good lad and go print another one off for me?"

Which is even better.

First it was the boys undermining the coach and doing their own thing, and we thought that bred entitlement.

Now McDavid has taken it all the way to the owner and is getting what they asked for. Unless....wait...I'm getting something....

Unless..... this whole Chiarelli thing is a shadow game and beginning next season McDavid will be splitting the duties of #1C and GM. Brilliance.

And Captain.

And Coach.

And Equipment Manager.

Default Peter Chiarelli meets with Oilers to interview for a job

Poll at the bottom of the article.

Would Peter Chiarelli be a good addition to the Oilers organization?

I may be in the minority but I always thought that Chiarelli was overrated as Boston's GM.

He made two incredible deals that helped Boston. He signed Chara and he made a hell of a deal to get Rask for Raycroft. He also made the Kessel deal, which was good, but then lost the Seguin deal. Otherwise, most of his trades have been either been losses or unnotable, in my opinion.

His drafting has also been pretty average. He got the no-brainer with Seguin at #2 overall. Dougie Hamilton at #9 in 2011 looks good. Otherwise, his most productive draft pick was Joe Colborne.

That said, if he is hired by the Oilers it would be a huge improvement over what they have now.

If he can get a similar return for Hall that he got for Seguin I'm okay with it.

So, is Katz going to withdraw his lawsuit now, because he is a nice guy?

But Chiarelli doesn't believe that losing is the launchpad to winning - will be a poor cultural fit!
