Glencross had more than 1 good season, he had 2-3 pretty great years. However, he's not the player he once was and completely changed his game for the worse. He tried to be a skilled player making dumb drop passes and such instead of driving the net.

Just happy we got a good return for him considering his play was obviously not where it should be, especially considering this is a contract year.

This trade was addition by subtraction and we still have two picks in a deep draft to show for it.

Glad he's gone, super happy we got what we did for him.

He would have been a liability in this round of the playoffs simply by taking up a roster spot that could very well have been the spot Ferland occupies.
Yep sounds harsh but I totaly agree, he also seemed to value his own stats over the team, over winning. The Flames brought out the best in him, he did not bring out the best in the Flames. Two so- so seasons here will be the hilight of his career.

He got off to a good start but only has one measly assist in his last 14 games. Zilch and -3 in three playoff games.

Glencross has top 6 skills but bottom 6 consistency. Some team might give him top 6 money but they're going to be disappointed unless he can find some consistent scoring chemistry. Hope he stays out east -- don't want to see another former Flame coming back and lighting us up (I'm looking at you Bourque and Tanguay).

Consistency is a skill. The time , dedication and discipline are just as important as the innate skill. Plenty of incredibly talented people that never put in the proper time and thought it should be easier than it is. Even a guy like Sven has similar attributes to Glencross but doesn't put it together properly to be a roleplayer that contributes every game.

Just by subtracting Glencross the Flames improved by opening up that roster spot, but getting 2 draft picks for him as well? Biggest steal of the trade deadline without question

Makes you wonder how much better the Iginla and Bouwmeester trades would have been if Treliving was the GM.

The fact that all of our young guys playing well right now were Feasters draft picks makes you wonder how bad the team would have been if he wasn't the GM before.

No. They were all acquired after Sutter.

Sutter openly and blatantly said he preferred big Western Canadian boys who aren't soft, a strategy that was not very smart (Chucko comes to mind). Treliving has done no such thing, nor is the current team and drafting any indication of that.

Let's get this back to being about Glencross, but you do realize that all the scouts still have to report to the GM and it's the GM that makes the pick.

I hope Treliving cashes in on the picks we got for Glencross, either a few defensemen or packaged to move up and get something more.

I think his point is that, while not the mandate as was under Sutter, that the most previous (Feaster) and current (Treliving) managers also added players from the area and cited such as one of the reasons.

The fact we're one win away from the 2nd round of the playoffs, one of 8 teams left fighting for the cup and we have six picks in the top 90 of this years draft is so sweet.

I know Glencross still has his fans but we didn't skip a beat without him.

The whole "mandate" thing is overblown.

Giordano, Brodie, Backlund, Bouma and Ferland (ok Ferland and Bouma is a Darryl player) were all brought in as prospects by Darryl. Our draft might be junk in 2004-2006 but things vastly improved by 2007.

I remember when a few posters were venting on about how much we would miss Glencross down the stretch...

The guy was a healthy scratch last night for Washington and has 1 assist in his last 14 games...

The Flames do not miss him one bit.

Yeah, it is pretty clear that you only saw what you wanted to see.

He wasn't perfect, of course, but the guy bled for us, and worked hard for us. He deserves better than to be trashed by fans behaving like jilted teenagers who just got dumped.
