That would probably make a lot more sense wrt the pain shooting down his arm. Though a broken rib could possibly do that too - I've never experienced that, fortunately.

Same. Broke a rib slipping on ice. Most pain of my life, thought it was something worse, ended up in an ambulance on morphine. I can totally see that happening

I think with a broken rib you can't raise your arms over your head.
Oh wait - he could play!

Done for the series? Good.
It looks like most players are out 3-5 weeks with a broken rib; can't really play unless it's fully healed because one hard hit would probably break it again.

Why good, it just gives the Canucks and their fans an excuse when they go out.

But what if Ferland promised not to hit him again.

Now that we know what the injury is, I can freely say that I'm really glad Burrows is out. He tried targeting Gaudreau at the end of last game and then started throwing punches with Russell before he was even ready. It's just one of the many, many despicable plays he's been the instigator of in his career. I just don't think there's a place in the game for a player like him.
Speaking purely from a competitive standpoint, with a broken rib, it would be miraculous for him to play in this series again, but if he did, all it would take is a good clean body check along the boards to probably knock him out of the game again. Even if he played through the pain, he would only be marginally effective and would probably shy away from contact. All in all, this is good news for us and I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for a player like Burrows.
He'll live, he'll be fine, but at least we won't have to deal with his crap the rest of the series. Now Bieksa is another story...

Yeah, a broken rib while not often life threatening, is a serious injury. Serious enough that I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Also, I believe a shot to the chest like that can actually screw with your heart beat. The pain, combined with that thought would likely have been pretty freaky.
As much as we all hate Burrows, he is probably like most people and has a side that people around him like and there would be those that would be devastated if he was hurt badly. I'm glad he is out for the game (and maybe the series), but I hope he is alright generally speaking.

Yeah bad practice injury to be hit by a puck.
Who the hell is teeing up bombs towards a teammate in a morning skate.

I had a fractured rib, and it took 6 weeks to have ALMOST all the pain go away and I am a mid-20's, active guy so yeah Burrows is done. First month SUCKS, really hard to do heavy breathing
