And they didn't kick the guy out? Seriously, this doesn't sound like dome policy at all. No fan should be harassed. If this is the case I would encourage you to notify the flames office of this conduct. They should have kicked the guy out after attending to you, but the fact that they did nothing? I find that insane.

This wasn't part of the story before - what was it?

Can you post a recount of what happened or the reddit link?

But really if someone is being a dildo just report them.

Sorry, I ninja edit when I noticed it wasn't this season. Still, I've been to a fair share of Flames vs Canucks games and outside of the occasional back and forth between drunks in the PL, I have never witnessed anything quite like that. Being pushed down the stairs and punched in the face aren't exactly minor incidents. I'm sure they have happened, but you've been involved in two?

Both.

The guy on Reddit said that the guys behind me were flicking my ear, banging thundersticks in my ear (after working at the Dome for a long time, I don't even notice thundersticks tbh), and taking photos of me with them flipping me off behind my back.

When I left at 4-1 (I said 3-1 earlier, I was wrong), that's when the dudes a few seats down got into it with me.

And the flicking of your ears didn't necessitate a call to the usher? Any physical contact and you should have gotten on security ASAP

It sucks you got hurt though.

I was at the game too, and there were some pretty bad guys sitting right in front of me.
There was a lone Canucks fan sitting two rows ahead of me, and about eight 20-something aged Flames fans sitting behind him. All throughout the game they were slapping their thundersticks right above his head, clapping right into his ear and yelling six inches from the back of his head.
Looked like the guy was falling asleep in the third period or something, so they started taking pictures while giving him the finger then started flicking his ear. I was pretty close to saying something until the Flames got their last goal and he got up to leave.
Had a hard time getting past all the Flames fans, and his glasses fell off (got knocked off?) while he was trying to get past, and he was still getting berated while trying to find them.
Once he finally escaped all the dudes behind him started high-fiving each other. Good job bros, sure showed him.
There you go. Also I wasn't asleep just bummed out about the game.

Yeah, I would say getting flipped off and even the thundersticks (I don't think they are that loud singularly, annoying but probably not permanent damaging I would hope? ) are fair game for an enemy in the Dome. Any type of unprovoked contact though is unwarranted and should have had something done about it.

I am really hating the violence I am reading about from both cities.

I have been to a few games in rexall and luckily never had even close to a confrontation. There was an Edmonton fan chirping my buddy on the train post game once but nothing came from it.

I have been to games where things could escalate with Canuck or Oiler fans but I don't ever want to be kicked out of the dome.

I have also had many a game where there was playful banter with the opposing fans and we shake hands at the end of the game win or lose.

Certainly there is a certain level of etiquette required when one is a road fan. The thing that sucks is it gives "likes to fight" guy a reason to start something with another person. Unfortunately they have those guys in every city

If it truly was as bad as the Canucks' make it sound, I doubt that guy in blue would be alive.

Most fans are good folks, and sometimes there is some obnoxious dude bros that ruin everyone's day. Sorry to hear about your experience, Dome_YYC. We are definitely better than that.

That said, has anyone ever been to a EPL game and wore the wrong jersey? You're asking for a death sentence if you wear the wrong jersey to a Milwall, S####horpe or Newcastle United game. Those boys will shank you proper with sharpened umbrellas they will.

I actually had no problems in the tailgate. Everyone was super nice. A guy came up and shook my hand and asked for a photo. He said "We're not going to be like Montreal buddy, welcome to the Dome".

Hi there, i've been doing some research.

you've been registered with calpuck for 6 years posted 39 times

you don't really post about the flames, and here are some of the issues that interest you

Again, I'm dismayed this even needs to be discussed:

EVERY fan base has bad apples. That is so simple and obvious, it should go without saying. However, it's undeniable and blatantly obvious, there is a much larger percentage of these types in Vancouver's fan base. There is really no denying it. From sucker punching to police car burning to twitter threatening... it's just not debatable.

I'm not sure why you even felt the need to bring up there are some Calgary fans like this. That happens with every fan base in every sport. But not to the extent it happens with Vancouver fans. Not even close.

Being in the Dome when the Flames win against Vancouver is not a good time for me either just as it probably is the other way. You can't claim innocence. It was brought up that people don't feel safe, well sometimes I don't either. I don't deserve to be pushed down stairs.

My problem is when security isn't on top of the problem. Whoever handles Saddledome Security missed the drunk yahoos sitting behind me on Saturday night.

I've seen alot of Canucks/Flames in Saddledome, and everytime I wonder how the whole place doesn't break out in a riot.

Then, the Flames guy rips the jersey off over the Leaf guys head, and tosses it 10 seats over and 3 rows back. Leaf fan has no shirt underneath (wtf) and police escort him out shirtless. Flames fan gets high fives all the way up as he's escorted out.

Disturbing how many Leaf fans there were wearing Leaf pajama pants or sweat pants with jerseys.

As for the game, solid all over the place. Jokinen unlucky not to have 1 more, Stajan could've had two. Phaneuf extra slow...Tanguay and Iginla on the penalty shot play made up 3 strides on him in both cases. Good to see Hagman find the net, and Kotalik was finding space to be able to get shots away too.

i would ask you not to fabricate a sense of danger at the saddledome, just to suit your overblown sense of duty. I have a lot of pride for the saddledome, my city, and the people in it, i've worked at the saddledome also, i've been to a whole lot of games too, in my experience nobody gets pushed down the stairs and punched in the face without saying a word.

it's like listening to paul blart talk about how gangster the mall is.

Sorry to hear that Dome_YYC

Was actually only one section over and saw when you left but didn't see or hear anything before that.

Hate when fans do that. Heckling and chanting is one thing but harassing is another.

Think Flames do need to beef up the usher and security for playoffs. Can be hard to see or hear what is going on when the crowd is as rowdy as it was last night. I was pretty close to that incident and had no idea anything was going on until I saw security come up to escort you out.

1: I never said I liked the Flames. There are plenty of other fans who support opposing teams.

2: I am not an usher. Originally when I joined I was. The Leafs brawl you are referring to was ridiculous and I was embarrassed that someone didn't do their job correctly and someone got hurt simply because she wasn't in her section.

3: I'm in the camp of "I should be able to feel safe and feel like I shouldn't have a problem cheering for whoever I want" and something that should be extended to every fan that enters the building. Sorry if that concept is odd to you.

They usually do, I remember doubling up in 2008/2009. NYE they usually stuck a bunch more security up there too.

Glad there are other people that saw it. I'm not out for blood, but I just want to present a viewpoint. I usually have no problems. It's been five years and one minor incident and this. That's pretty good. I'm attributing it to the whole hype and the fact that the balance that usually is seen during regular season Vancouver-Calgary games isn't present.

When you fell on the stairs, was your butt hurt?

Because then it would be really relevant in this thread

the dome is not a dangerous place and you should feel safe, i'm sorry that you don't.

you don't deserve to be pushed down the stairs either, not even once, and i'm sorry that you have been inexplicably pushed down the stairs twice this year.

i would posit that you have an axe to grind, or perhaps aren't great with stairs,
either way the dome is not a dangerous place, in fact it was god damned disneyland for most of us last night.

ironic that you're posting in the butthurt nux fan thread. subtle.
