I don't see how the NHL can say they are taking a stance on head shots and not have at least one game for Hamhuis. Textbook hit to the head, intentional or not. I hope they send the right message, but am not hopeful.

The other fights will have no consequence to the Canucks other than igniting the Flames again to come out strong and show them who the better team is.

I bet no one gets suspended, I'll be surprised if Willie gets a fine.

I agree the NHL has a responsibility to cool this down. They are running a huge risk if a player gets Bertuzzied. There has been ample evidence that could happen, so if the league wants that risk for whatever reward then it's fully on them. They just need to be ready if a talented player on either team gets seriously hurt because they did virtually nothing after last night.

Canucks need to get slapped past a fine. Handing out a few suspensions should help send a message about Hartley fine the Canucks didn't get. Otherwise, the way things are going there is massive risk some idiot does something stupid.

No suspensions for fighting, just a fine. Mirror image of previous game. But they have to suspend for dangerous play, especially in a heated series - one of Burrows or Hamhuis, I'm thinking Hamhuis. League needs to send a message

I think suspensions are deserved but I don't see them happening. Which is unfortunate, as the goonery will continue until someone gets hurt.

Nothing going to happen unfortunately. Canucks players show what losers they are and the league wont do anything as usual until someone gets a life threatening injury or a career ending injury. And only then because there will be a huge lawsuit.

The league is showing very badly for allowing the dirty play to continue. Disgusting to watch.

Nothing will happen. League is going to talk to both teams and refs. Probably say from now on if any of this stuff continues suspensions will be handed out.

Burrows is 50-50 because they just rescinded an instigator penalty and will want to look "fair". I'm aware of how stupid that is, but that is how this league works and how I expect it to work.*

Hamhuis won't be suspended because Bennett was fine. Had there been an injury he might have, but no dice. I'm aware of how stupid that is, but that is how this league works and how I expect it to work.

Bieksa shouldn't be suspended anyway, that's just wishful thinking.

*Still voted Burrows because it's a coin toss and also it's Burrows. No one likes Burrows.

I don't understand why there's a bigger deal being made for Hamuis and Burrows than Bieksa.

Burrows instigated the fight, but honestly I thought his hit was boarderline at worst. It was similar to Ferland's hit on Sbisa where the contact was shoulder but he hits the boards head first.

Hamuis' hit is suspendable in reg season for sure, and should be now as well. But I don't think he did it intentionally.

What Bieksa did was deplorable. Randomly grab a guy and just start wailing? Totally gutless and has no business in the game. At least in the case of Burrows, Russell was looking for it too (who wouldn't want a shot at him?). Completely classless. If something like that isn't intent to injure I don't know what is.

I think they will probably rescind the Burrows instigator penalty because they did it for Engelland and Canucks fans might burn down Roger's Centre if it's not rescinded. But if you watch the two penalties there is a world of difference. Burrows penalty is the definition of instigator. Wouldn't be surprised if they held up the suspension despite their decision in regards to Engelland.

Hamhuis went for the head. Even extended his arm through. If they don't suspend that then I hope he's got his head on a swivel for next game.

I don't know if it's the "definition" of an instigator - he had just drilled Johnny and was going to get into a fight regardless; I can see the argument, anyway. What I mean is, there are more quintessential instigator penalties out there than that.

However, it's completely obvious that it's not the same as the Engelland one; this was a one-off fight and Engelland was in a line brawl. They don't have to rescind it.

I think Hamhuis will likely be suspended. The Burrows hit I didn't have that much of a problem with. I thought it was worse how he just started punching Russell before he even had a chance to get ready and defend himself. Bieksa did the same thing as Burrows but only worse. Normally I think he should be suspended but he will probably get away with it. It's the playoffs and I don't think they would want to put the Canucks down 2 pretty good players when they are already down 2-1 in the series. 2 of 3 would be fair but I'm thinking just Hamhuis.

I cant listen to the cbc broadcast team, Jim is so delusional its as if hes trying to sell you something through the microphone, hes clearly watching replays and physically seeing it live and yet still makes #### up to try and justify the Vancouver reactions.

What a disgrace to CBC. Bring back the Hrudey and Ball

^The problem with bringing back Hrudey and Ball is that you would then have to bring back Shorthouse and Garrett for the games in Vancouver. And as annoying as Hughson is, we are better off with him than with Garrett.

As Corsi noted, no injury to Bennett means Hamhuis will be fine. But to do that one game after being third man in, he's probably going to get a strong warning from the league, slap on the wrist that that might be.

As I noted last night, the only suspension we are looking at is Burrows, and only if the NHL doesn't pull a false "fairness" argument out.

Worse than a suspension. The Canucks have lost Raffi as a fan.

@Raffi_RC
dear #Canucks—how to turn off a longtime fan: 1. desert the smart play that won game two. 2. fight & take dumb penalties late in game.
