As many have said, hopefully just ill so he can recover. If it's a nagging injury, I can't see it improving while playing every other day.

			There is definitely something up.
If his tentative play (in spots) last night didn't point to it, the fact he only practiced 5 mins in the four days before game 1 most certainly did.

I also would like to see video of Monahan falling on his face and not being able to get up under his own strength

All I can say is if it's the Flu, then nobody should be surprised that he had a rough go last night. Man when I get a Flu, and I'm not talking about a cold I wouldn't want to go for a leisurely skate at the local rink. Can't imagine what it would be like to put the pads on and go 20 minutes of NHL playoff hockey!

So when did he have to be dragged from the ice by other players? I thought I watched the game closely but maybe I missed that. I did use the washroom a couple of times. He couldn't get up under his own strength?

This thread is mind numbing. Some posters have no way to express themselves but through definitive speculation.
 Facts:

 1. Monahan is 20 years old.

 2. Monahan played in his first NHL playoff game.

 3. Monahan played against the other team's top lines for the majority of the game, and held them off the score sheet.

 4. Monahan did not have a good night in the faceoff dot. See #1&2 above.

 5. In the third period, he became noticeably more comfortable and started to tilt the ice in Calgary's favor.

All the speculation of a shoulder injury or flu is just that. Speculation. Until someone comes out and says differently, I am assuming Monahan is going to continue his strong third period play next game.

Threads like these are painful to read. Back away from the cliff folks....

The Flames should be passing out Monahan wigs.
 I want that salad.

Something HAS to be wrong. ZERO points?
Maybe put Raymond in next game for him.

Don't have the video but snapped a pic at the moment he landed on his face.
Shoulder looks like it's in terrible shape as well.

would bigger shoulder pads really help a shoulder injury?
shoulder injury usually has more to do with movement...I think people are seeing things and it seems to be confirmed

Confirmed that he was ill. There we go, not playing injured at all. Some posters look very silly at this point.

Shoulder must be hurt. Why else would he try to break his fall with his head?
