Last night when Stone first returned I was absolutely in the "he dove" crowd. However when he left a second time and with the news today I have since changed my mind. I don't think he dove if he is actually injured, but at the time he returned it was a little fishy.
Also I think the Senators organization are acting like babies right now. You got 5 and a game for something that really is only a 2 minute minor. If Subban catches him in the elbow pad it's a 2 minute minor and this isn't even an issue. The right call was made on the ice and the Senators have no one to blame but themselves for failing to beat a Canadiens team that is without Subban and Pacioretty. I hope Cameron is fined for his comments. Get revenge on the ice instead of whining to the media.

This is pretty devastating to the Sens. No way he should be out there with even a hairline fracture.
For my part, the intent of Subban did not seem to be as vicious as some of the plays the NHL has suspended for. That said, I've often wondered if the NHL should discuss adopting a consequence based punishment that is more in tune with common law legal principles? In an intentional tort claim, you take your victim as you find him. If he is more fragile or less fortunate than another victim, that is irrelevant and the damages you pay fit the consequences you cause.

All of that would have to be considered in the off-season, however. Now is not the time to change up the methodology for suspensions.

Price will end up being the target as Subban will not be putting himself in any vulnerable situations.

Game 1 of the playoffs following an illegal stick infraction that resulted in Injury is the BEST time to change up the methodology for suspensions.

agree with cali flames fan. "microfractures" is a awkward word to use in that context. typically, i see the word in describing the result of a metabolic process or repetitive microtrauma. i have never seen it used to describe an injury sustained via the two-handed port alberni lumberjack log-splitting rage-chop.

Subban should get a 5 game or so suspension for being so stupid.I understand chippy hockey etc. but that was just ridiculous, and what really pissed me off was the way he immediately looks at the ref and is like" what, you're giving me a penalty?"
Don't get me wrong I don't dislike the guy, but that play was just super fun!

I've seen people on several forums saying this was pretty standard and something that happens several times a game so it's no big deal. This sort of garbage really does the sport a disservice. swinging your stick and hitting people intentionally is not part of hockey and should be called on a regular basis.

I broke my wrist in 4 or 5 places curling, and I still played for about another 30 minutes until I realized I was in more pain than a sprain should feel like.

No one said it's no big deal, and it was in fact called.

The issue with commonality is whether an in-game penalty is enough or if it crosses a boundary to additional punishment. In this case the league says no, after a maximum in-game penalty.

Stone said after the game that Subban was targeting him at every faceoff. Whether it was an attempt to intimidate or hurt Stone is unknown. Whether it was Subban's idea or a coaching direction is also unknown. Bush league either way - the Bobby Clarke School of Injuring Best Players.

LOL. Subban didn't even hit his wrist, either he hurt it after the last scrum, or from his acting skills falling to the ground.

			^Idiots abound!

Troutman - I would say Subban's intent was probably more to intimidate (i.e.: to 'hurt') than to injure. The problem is that Subban is occasionally as stupid as he is talented, and it leads him into bad decisions.

Targeting a good player isn't bush league.

The manner in which the "targeting" was done in bush league.

The NHL doesn't want to punish players/teams in situations like this because it will ruin the "storyline" that's been created. Much like the WWE, the NHL wants storylines to create interest. If incidences are dealt with harshly to stop them, then the storyline for the next game fades away. It's the same reason that Lucic doesn't get suspending for a spearing a guy in the balls and that Weber got a slap on the wrist for smashing Zetterberg's head into the boards. These incidences create a storyline that gets people talking and interested in the next game (waiting for the retribution!!).
The NHL is probably the only league that has no respect for the sport itself. It is much more like the WWE than it is any other professional league.

Imagine how mad we would be if burrows did this to gaudreau... Definitely deserves a suspension. I liked Cameron's response that this means there's a green light to go after Montreal's top guys. If the league won't handle it, the players will.
If burrows did something like that to gaudreau and there was no suspension, I'd want Hartley to call up a plug from the AHL with the sole purpose of hurting the Sedins.
