Loved Ferland being a bit of a bag with snow showers on lack, and really loved him chirping Bieksa. Not intimidated at all.
I didn't mind his penalty that much. Yeah, he got 2 minutes, but it was broken by the period ending. Plus he was standing up for his teammate (legit hit or not) and he made Dorsett look a little weak. Dorsett obviously thought about going and declined. It's more telling because they know each other well, and therefore Dorsett seemingly thinks Ferland is tougher than him.
I also liked that the penalty didn't afect Ferland's game at all. In fact, it seemed to ramp it up.

Back from Arizona a couple of weeks ago, stopped at our home in BC, then back to Calgary. Dins with my youngest son last night, then back to the condo with him for hockey and brews. Some moments are just the best!!

I thought it was about as even of a game as anyone could expect. Both goalies made some great saves.
Ferland and Bennett were both really good. Russell was a total cyborg out there. He looked like a man on a mission. Hiller was solid.
As others have mentioned, I am a little worried about Monahan if he is not 100%.
I think Gaudreau is going to really benefit from last night's game. One thing about Gaudreau is that he learns really fast. He displayed a lot of his skill last night, but was also caught off guard a couple of times I think. The experience should help him grow.

The CBC clips onlineare also bizarrely the NBC feed! Nice surprise; I still think he's the best in the business. The call for Russell's goal gave me chills.

Sam Bennett was incredibly impressive throughout the game. I am so excited to watch him play as a Flame over the next several years with Johnny and Sean. I really hope he earns the first year of his contract this year getting us deep into the playoffs.
Ferland was great sticking up for his teammates. I loved him getting under Bieksa's skin. At first Bieksa did the talking and look that he wasn't impressed and Ferland wasn't important. Ferland kept talking and then Bieksa was so mad he went to take the spot beside him in the draw. I hope they drop the gloves and Ferland gives that dbag the same treatment TKo did.

I saw it live. I would just position my camera at the net and snap as soon as a shot was made and hope if came out clear. Unfortunately Jones' goal didn't.

What a pleasure it was to see Backlund and Colborne play 1000 times better since Raymond was removed from that line!!

It also sounded like a lot of Canucks fans still think Luongo is on their team.
Lots of Loooooous after Lack saves.

So happy for both Bennett and Ferland. I've been on the Ferly hype train for several years now just based on his unique skillset and size. He and Bouma playing in the playoffs at the same time would be MAYHEM. And Bennett... what can you say? No really surprise here. If he burns a year of his ELC during the playoffs, its because we're in the 2nd or 3rd round and it'll be well worth it!
The most exciting thing about Bennett and Ferland is I bet come Games 3 and 4, they will step it up another notch. Seem like the players to really feed off the crowd's energy.

I caught the first 10 minutes then rushed to emergency for what turned out to be kidney stones. Anyone have a recap of Bennet's performance? I thought about setting my PVR to record the game earlier in the day. I guess I should have.
Nice to hear they won while I was waiting for the morphine to kick in.

If Calgary wins Game 2, I think the Canucks fold like a cheap tent.

Yeah, you kind of would get a defeated look if you gave up the go-ahead goal with less than 30 seconds left in the game. It is still early in the series, and we were fortunate that Vancouver didn't make us pay for those penalties.
Precisely the start we needed, however!

Hope you're feeling better man. I went through a similar thing last year. I had a severe gallstone attack that ultimately turned into Pancreatitis. I got put into surgery immediately.

If Ferland can find his scoring touch that he had in the AHL, he'll be more than a bottom 6 player.

Mods feel free to tell me to stop doing this but HF is an absolute joy of Canucks quotes right now, I just need to post some.
"Was at the game and there were flames fans behind me. One guy sounded like he was straight out of calgary puck with his comments. Wanted to punch him in the face."
"Horvat getting worked by Colborne was awful. Coulborne looked like Crosby out there."
"Flames got lucky and their fans know that. The shots on the board were not accurate. Canucks gave up very little."

Bennett good, real good.
Drove the net 3 or 4 times in the first, even taking a penalty doing so. Apparently we had 4 or 5 scoring chances in the 1st and they were all Bennett or Backlund.
A bit quieter of a 2nd, tipped a Brodie pass just wide on a 3-on-1. And although Colborne started the GWG, Bennett and Backlund stayed on, cycled the puck, and Bennett almost fed Jones in the slot for a goal before the puck found its way to Wideman who fed Russell. Bennett crashed the net after his pass from the corner, and took both Bieksa and Sbisa with him causing a triple screen on the winner.

I think it just goes to show how much better we are then them though. Even without Giordano, and even when killing all those penalties, we still looked way superior. Canucks started the game strong, but the Flames really started taking over once the 3rd period hit.
We get the next game and we got this, and Vancouver starts burning its city again.

What an incredible last 3 mins of hockey played by the flames. Brodie Backlund Colbourne Bennett Gaudreau especially. But Russell Wideman Jones Stajan Ferland Monohan Hudler and Engelland as well. Total domination. Loved watching that dirty ###### Bieksa stand and watch the puck go in the net.

I know right, Flames scored 3 goals to win 2-1.
On a serious note, I like your enthusiasm, but there will be push back, I can't see a sweep.
