Should have been a 2 minute penalty. Stone acted like he broke his wrist and had bone protruding through the skin.

Ah, as others have said, wasn't the first Hack Subban took the liberty of taking in this game alone. I'm sure he was warned of the consequences if it happened again.
It was a stupid penalty to take however the ref doled out the minutes.

I want all of the people harping about embellishment to line up and receive that same slash.
Reaction was too quick and genuine to be a dive IMO

I think Subbans reaction to the slash and the penalty call was worse than Stones.

Give him 2 or 4 minutes then. There is no rule that you can kick a guy out of the game because he continues to take penalties after being warned. You just keep giving him penalties.

Yeah I'm not sure the trainers can check him out that quickly unless Stone says I'm good. If you were really worried about it being broken you probably need to be a little more thorough than something like "hmm doesn't look deformed, it's all good."
I don't doubt it hurt, but I can't see it getting more than 4 if Stone shakes his arm or slumps over rather than rolling around so vigorously.

If it happens in the Flames/Canucks series and Burrows is the victim. I would line up to receive it. If Stone is okay I'm pretty sure I will be as I've never broken a bone in my life so I know I'm not brittle.

Depends. If a player deliberately takes penalties intended to hurt or injure another player, he absolutely should be ejected at some point, otherwise he will not get the message. This slash looked awful and not a single bit unintentional.

What was the real life time between Stone leaving the ice and returning? I know it wasn't much in game time, but there was a fair delay before play resumed...and then there may have been a goal (or two or three) and a tv timeout?

I think the initial call was correct, as Hrudey said, the refs don't know if he's going to come back so they have to make the 5 minute call. That said, Stone came back, so now the call looks bad and Stone is being questioned (rightfully so) as a diver. He just left again though, so if he isn't back, maybe he didn't dive and just tried to come back and play through it. It's too early to lean either way, but I think both the slash and possible embellishment deserve some criticism.

No, but there is a rule that you have to give the major if you injure the player on the slash.
The panel explained it well. The rulebook says if you take a slashing penalty, and that penalty results in the player being injured, then you have to call the major. They determined that Stone appeared genuinely hurt, combined with PK take a baseball swing at Stone, stone being no-where near the puck and it was pretty much the only call the refs could make.

Man I realize it happens all the time, but I'm sick and tired of guys getting away with two handing star players. It was a stupid and dirty play by Subban and we'd be furious if the same thing happened to Gaudreau.

Tough call that. I can see both sides. On the one hand, what on earth Subban was thinking of dong that I don't know. Asking for trouble when you make such an obvious slash, why do it when you are already down a man and in a decent position on the scoreboard? Such a stupid, needless play.
But on the other, Stone clearly sells that. Maybe it did hurt like hell at the time, but did you see the way he twisted his body, its so unnatural. But, the rules dictate that it had to be a major and game misconduct given that Stone went off injured, which he probably was at the time. We've all stubbed our toe or trapped our finger in a door, it hurts like hell at the time. But given a few minutes, its fine. Same for Stone. He sells it for sure, but you can't tell me he wasn't feeling intense pain at the time. The refs see that, they have to give the call they did. Rules is rules, no sympathy for Subban.

Hopefully Gaudreau is not as big of a baby in his first playoff game. I'm sure he won't be.

How? How did he clearly sell it? He's not even on the bench right now.
Edit. And it sounds like he's gone for the game.
