I now have zero use for Stone.
He reacted like it was severed.
There is no excuse for that kind of embellishment. He should be fined.
I previously was OK with the possibility of him beating Gaudreau for Calder.
Not any more.
Shameful.

I don't feel bad for PK at all. That was a stupid play period. Should it be a game misconduct? Probably not, but regardless it was completely bone-headed.
Refs didnt know that when they made the call. I think they called it under the assumption that Stone was seriously hurt, and for good reason after that sell job

Absolutely agree, with first part.
Probably not is laughable. 4 minutes would have been more than enough
Im cheering for Ottawa...but that was a major sell job for sure. It was a penalty, but the refs likely assessed the major based on Stone looking seriously injured. No way a "Stinger" hurts more then an actual wrist break
The expression on his face immediately after being hit says it all. Stone going down wasn't a sell job.
The way he writhed around afterwards may have been, I don't know. Either way, I don't think Subban should have been kicked out, but stone hitting the ice that way was just a natural reaction.
I think people here would have a very different reaction if that happened to Gaudreau.
If Gaudreau got slashed? I think that has happened.
If Gaudreau got slashed and severely embellished injury? I think most would take the 5... and also hope that someone important sat him down and told him we don't do that here.

If Subban does indeed break Stone's wrist, then (and only then) 5 and a game is acceptable.
If Stone comes back, suddenly 5 and a game was a big over-reaction.
IMO, playoffs are so much more important, better to go with 2 minutes unless someone is CLEARLY injured seriously.
We often hear that a player would normally get suspended 1 game, but the penalty they took resulted in a goal against, so that's serious enough. (IE: Cammalleri's cheapshot punch to Havlat's face back in 2009).
