Are there any Flames bars in Vancouver? As a student in Vancouver I would love to watch the game with people cheering for the good guys!

We figured that as well, and since I'm taking the day off work I figured we can look for last minute flights or just drive out early morning if we don't want to fly!

Not specifically. A bunch of us have gone to Yaggers and the owner is greatt about showing the Flames. GE usually blocks off the back room for us. The Black Frog is an Oilers bar but we've taken it over a few times when the Oilers aren't playing. Although not a Flames bar, Phat is a great place that will show any out of market game. BPs Stadium wouldn't put the LA/Calgary game on any of their TVs last Thursday but Phat had it on when I walked in. The staff was wearing Vancouver gear but they were good people. Sin Bin is a Habs bar but we've watched a Flames game there once. It'll be tough to gauge given they are playing in Vancouver.

Why not book the flight and then buy hockey tickets if the deal goes ahead? I bet there are a bunch of people like you waiting but it doesn't seem like there is any risk to sign up for a flight you want to go. You don't lose money if it doesn't leave right?

I thought i was going to be able to make this but it isnt going to happen.
I have two tickets if anyone is interested - Section 109 Row 24 Seat 5,6
Paid 178/seat. PM me if you would be interested.
Would be nice to sell them to a CP'er. Ticketmaster is only showing singles now, so hopefully this will help someone.

Thanks for the help. It figures to be tough to find a Flames friendly place, but hopefully there's somewhere where there is a vocal minority! If I can make it out to Phat I'll give it a go.

Where abouts are you? I've never found a Flames friendly place but never had an issue watching games either especially when they are playing Vancouver. I was going to head downtown but I think I'll fire up the projector instead.

I would avoid the options on Granville St as they'll likely draw more of the troublesome Canucks fans.
If I wasn't going to the game, would likely hit up somewhere like Craft and avoid being directly downtown.

For people who are "waiting" for the flight to hit a certain #, honestly unless you're weighing your options between taking a regular air carrier or driving or etc. you won't lose anything by signing up for the JumpOn flight, you don't lose money if it's not a go.
If people stay on the fence until it hits a number, then we'll never get the 68 required by Thursday night.

My buddies and I are making the trip for game 5, which wont happen because we'll sweep, but in case it doesn't we're not too worried about wearing red from head to toe. Won't need to chirp if the boys are doing the talking for us on the ice!

Kitsilano. With finals season here, Phat might be a bit ambitious so somewhere like the King's Head which was apparently Flames friendly a few years ago might be where I end up. If CPers in Vancouver not going to the game( ) want to, we could try to invade a bar in town!

I'm living at UBC and was thinking of going to Mahoney's as it'll be full of students (i.e. much less likely for aggressive drunk fans, and I should know a lot of people there.).
I could go to Jaggers though, it's pretty close. Also the chef at Colony is a big flames fan, so the staff always welcomed me in my jersey.

Now if only their were enough Flames fans here in Fukuoka to justify doing something like this with a B767 flying from here to Vancouver. Would have to leave tomorrow to be there by game 2!

Sign up for JumpOn first! I can assure you with confidence tickets will be even cheaper on Friday morning. This plane ride would be so fun.
Side question: do 100 flames fans take the train from the airport to to the arena? I can imagine some parade of 100 flames fans on our way to the rink turning heads. haha.

I'm aiming for that flight but flying standby with Buddy passes. So if I get bumped, I will be on the 4pm one.

With a Flames victory tonight, I'm sure many of those spots will be filled.
