Will be interesting to see where Babcock ends up. McLellan would fit into Detroit nicely.

Interesting, does McLellan get a call from Toronto perhaps?

Not surprised at all, I called it all year that they would miss the playoffs. Rebuild time down there.

Wasn't he an assistant in Detroit before getting the HC gig in San Jose?

My bet is he goes back there, unless they promote their AHL affiliates coach, who seems like a Babcock clone anyways.

Whatever the case, McLellan will be a pretty sweet consolation prize for whatever team that doesn't land Babcock.

I hate to say it, but both Toronto and Edmonton will have some good head coaching choices...

An established NHL coach with a good track record would have to be an idiot or desperate to go and coach in that dumpster fire.......and an established NHL coach with a good track record probably isn't going to be either of those things.

Never heard of offers too good to refuse?

An established NHL coach with a good track record would earn a dump truck full of money from Toronto. And if he fails, other teams would dismiss the failure as the Leafs needing a full rebuild. There's no real risk there.

Edmonton is a different story. But Todd Nelson did win 33% of his games, which is pretty remarkable for Edmonton, so he might be okay.

So was Ron Wilson. Anyone who coaches the Sharks will look good until the playoffs or when they leave the Sharks and end their career on a crappy team like the Leafs, Oilers, or Sabres.

Darryl Sutter would disagree.

Not a surprise on Todd McLellan. He dodged the bullet after last season and was given another chance to prove he can bring the Sharks to another level but failed. I knew Doug Wilson or Joe Thornton might be gone but I guess Sharks ownership wanted to keep both of them so instead of letting Doug Wilson go they promoted him to President and decided they still change the GM.

McLellan might get a consideration for Detroit's head coaching job if Mike Babcock decides to leave the Red Wings.

I've heard some pretty good reasoning behind Babcock ending up there. Specifically: he's got history with Tim Murray, Terry Pagula can back up the brinks truck, and with all he's accomplished in Detroit, taking a team from worst-to-first could be considered the only challenge left for him.

I figure Babcock ends up in Buffalo, stays in Detroit or possibly an outside chance at Pittsburgh.

McLellan, I have no idea. If Babcock doesn't go to Buffalo I could see McLellan heading there, particularly if they win the lottery. I bet Toronto will throw hordes of cash, but their having just "scorched the earth" leads to questions about what kind of management structure is going to end up in place there.

Going to be interesting.
