Boychuck was still the wrong guy to go after if giving up significant assets. Nick Leddy was the right fit for this team. 24 and just coming into his own...that's exactly what this team needs.

Well either one, I can't argue with acquiring Leddy but I had a soft spot for Boychuk and liked him since his Hitmen days.

Don't get me wrong, Boychuck sure would look nice on this team right now. But I just think there are better long-term options to try to acquire, if we are giving up some good assets.
I still think the Flames missed the boat on Leddy...I would've been ok to give up (or even a bit more) what the Islanders did for him.

Disagree about Raymond only being good at one thing, initial rushes.
He's also got great button hooks. Offensive zone, defensive zone, neutral zone, it doesn't matter. His button hooks are tight.

Bollig is a good choice, has lots of experience in the playoffs and likes to play in huge games like these

Yeah its funny how quickly I'm ok with Bollig in the lineup.
Don't take any horrible penalties and he could be pretty important in a 7-game series.

I think he's actually played really well the past few games... doesn't look like a "plug" at all.

Still I'd rather have Shore in personally than either Raymond or Bollig.

I don't have much of an opinion on Bollig vs Shore, but I do think both are better than Raymond... though last game didn't show it, I think Poirer is a better option then Raymond as well.

Not true at all. Wotherspoon may have potential down the road, but he is far from ready for the NHL, let alone playoffs. he was embarrassed by Stempniak in his last game. Potter is much better than Wotherspoon

I thought Potter has looked like a legit 6/7 NHL dman in his time here.

Sounds like they're gonna give Bennett his cup of coffee in the playoffs. Sweet!

Hang on, you are hardly putting him in a fair place to succeed. Top line minutes supported by Engelland against a number of decent Winnipeg forwards with most of our team totally checked out until Wednesday. Not like he is going to shoulder anywhere near that responsibility on Wednesday is it? Probably 5-8 minutes of 3rd pairing ice time against the bottom lines of the Canucks, way less responsibility. I'd be happy for him and Schlemko to be the 3rd pairing, at least for the first 2 games. If he struggles, then think about bringing Potter back in for the 2 home games or hopefully Diaz is fit by then.

Didn't notice much with Potter on the backend, which I suppose is what you want from a 6/7 defenceman. Play him and if he shats the bed then give Wotherspoon a try. You never know, Potter might pull a Montador and score a clutch goal in OT out of nowhere.

I don't think either, or was necessarily the best fit. Leddy might be a better possession driver than our bottom 4, but with his defence and this team's general tendancy to not have possession drivers, he might have gotten pushed down to third pairing anyways just due to Hartley's comfort level. Honestly would have preferred Boychuk despite the age, but I agree with you that Boychuk's age is not a fit either.
If we were gonna pick up a D in the offseason, I would have hoped to score Tyler Myers.

Just Hartley trying to wake up Raymond and get him ramped up to play vs his ex team. Though if he plays like ####, Bennett is always there for game 2.
