So the Flames draft 15th unless they make to the Stanley Cup Finals?

or make a trade and move up... They have a lot of picks and if there is a player that they really want than they could package their first and a second or other pick to move up.

Not exactly at the top of Flames' Faithful minds right now, but Flames snag intriguing prospect in this mock draft:

2015 NHL Mock Draft: Lottery Edition now live

Excerpt from intro:

Quote:
“Whether it be the Philadelphia Flyers going off the board to take Samuel Morin, the rapid rise of a Swedish blueliner’s stock, or Anthony Duclair slip sliding to the third round, a mock draft can go off the rails quicker than Connor McDavid can execute a wraparound. This draft class could be one for the ages with many pundits comparing it the revered class of 2003.”

The NHL mock draft order is based upon the NHL Draft Lottery Simulator (ran once on April 12th, 2015 to determine picks 1-14) and then on final regular season standings for remaining picks. Future mock draft will be based on the actual official NHL draft lottery results; this scenario adds a little intrigue as to what might be possible when the lottery takes place. No further trades were incorporated in this mock draft.
A surprising winner of the lottery, and the chips fall from there...

The Picks

Would be quite pleased if Flames ended up with Chabot at 15.

I'd be quite fine if the Devils won McDavid.

was just looking at some draft predictions and there are a few head scratchers out there.

Has the Flames passing on Chabot and taking Merkley but has Kylington going to the Canadians at 29....

Would you take Kylington at 15 if he's there?

Not sure if you have been paying attention, but Kylington has been dropping in every ranking.

Late 1st round and even early 2nd round is where a lot of people think he should be going now.

I know but I still didn't think he was that low. It would be amazing if he fell to the second round for one of our picks. I remember reading he still has elite potential

Yep that would be typical Oilers. They seem to think they are set for d-men. They seem to overvalue skilled wingers. With Draisaitl/RNH do they actually think they need another top two line centre?

What they really need is to be harder to play against. They need truculence. They need a power forward. I'm fairly confident that's not what they'll pick.

They have no clue how to build a winning team and I'm pretty sure they'll continue to do so.

My guess is that he doesn't fall out of the first round.

I think he'd be a great pick up for the Sens to play alongside Karlsson, but Kylington best be learning to play defense.

Really really liked CGY's second round mock on Draftsite.

They took D Rasmus Andersson (sadly, his dad was a New York Ranger) and Finnish C/LW Julius Nattinen. Both look like good ones.

EDIT: And they took RHD Matthew Spencer of the Peterborough Petes. Who took him over Sean Day, one of the top prospects in next years draft. Sounds like a Lidstrom type from articles I have been reading. Could be one hell of a draft for the Flames with all those picks. HEre's a link to a story on him, sounds like a prototypical Flame to me:
http://www.gopetesgo.com/article/bey...s-matt-spencer

Jansen Harkins is a surprise pick in the 1st round. Apparently he's being scouted by the Flames pretty hard according to a youtube comment section!

Eliteprospects relates his style to David Krecji. If he resembles anything like Krecji thats a good pick.

So 55% chance someone out side the top 3 will move up and bump BUF, PHX, and EDM down a peg. I can live with that.

Keep forgetting we have three picks in the 2nd round. So many good blueliners in this draft. Would love to see 2-3 guys taking with those first four picks.

With Mason McDonald chosen last year we probably won't take a goalie so in a year so high in blueliners, go for it.

Would love to see Thomas Schemitch in the 3rd round too.

If the Flames stay put with their picks, I could see them picking a guy at 45 or 50 that they considered at 15. I think it will be very difficult to predict where guys will go from 15-60 or so.

I can't get rid of the feeling they will end up with Carlo, but not sure with what pick!

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

The depth of this draft is very good outside of the top 10-15. Think you're going to see most teams in the 2nd and 3rd rounds say "we couldn't believe we got him there, we had him ranked in the 1st". More so then usual!

Do we trade 2 2nds to move into the late first, and take a player like Kylington if he's still available by a certain position? Getting a forward and a defenseman (or two defensemen) in the first round of this year's draft would be a nice haul.

After the teens I think the depth is too good to draft two 2nds for another 1st. Unless the Flames really like a player I don't see the point.

Now if the Flames trade their 1st and a 2nd to move into the top ten and get Provorov, I'm all game!

In my opinion, we trade the picks.

You build your contender (roughly speaking) around a legit #1C, #1D and a #1G.

We have a #1C and a #1D. Our 2nd line and 2nd D-pair are great too. Our depth on our other lines is evident. What are we missing?

I think we should swing for the fences and put together a package of picks/prospects/players for a legit #1G.
