Default Flames in Playoffs: Conspiracy Theory

Apparently there is one according to Vancouver Sun. NHL wanted Flames to get in and LA to get out. It's got to be, right?

Read the comments, some are hilarious.

P.S. In fairness, the author disagrees with the theory...

There is no way Bettman would prefer Calgary to be in over that sweet LA market, especially with 4 other Canadian teams in

The Flames are just a really disciplined team. It's no secret as to why they do not take a lot of penalties.

Also, why would the NHL want a huge market and the defending cup champs oout of the playoffs in favour of Calgary?

Anyone who falls for that as anything but satire, is an embarrassment to our fan base. And there is a ton of embarrassment in the comments section.

Ok it's obvious. LA had to miss so that Bettman can McDavid up the Kings. How can people not see this??????

My gosh I never advocate to remove a thread, but I'm making an exception.

Remove this thread, what a joke.

The fact that a lot of people are reading it as "real" sort of compliments the writer, no? A well written satire is often mis-interpreted by some.

The season is 82 games long. Please look at the entire picture.

While it does appear a sarcasm piece I would never put anything past that organization as 1993 is still fresh in my mind with Pat Quinn campaigning all series in the media that Gary Roberts was trying to murder Kirk McLean.

I do think that the Canucks will want to turn this into a special teams affair so the Flames really do have to play smart and hopefully the officials are wise to the Canucks antics.

This article looks like the first step in the campaign to influence the refs into giving Flames more penalties.
This is the Van and they will be diving all over the ice, and they are just setting the stage.

So, yes there is a conspiracy, but it is being propagated by Van against the innocent, loveable, likeable team from Calgary.

read the thread over at HF - completely perplexed by Calgary's PP-PK ratio
