So go post in another thread then.

We don't see you dragging other threads threads with similar crap like "honestly, for me, Jamie Benn is just another player in the league", so why waste everyone's time with this garbage in this thread?

It's impressive in a bad way that you don't even wish him well after he was loyal to the Flames for 16 straight years.

It's so true...

It surprised me how quickly I've forgotten about him. He was my favorite player for years and I can't help but wonder why I care so little for him now. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike him...

But there's definitely something that's made me forget about him let's put it that way... I think a combination of that stale boring period of us icing an old team where it was basically watching him get older compared to what we have now which is exciting hockey with multiple players, situations, and scenarios to cheer for.

That and well to be honest him leaving for a chance at a cup was fine with me, but at the same time when he moved to teams that basically bombed as soon as he got there (Pittsburgh, Boston, Colorado), it really didn't sit well with me in the background. I feel like he's somewhat tarnished his reputation with those depserate moves for a cup.

Sundin did it with one team and it tarnished his. I think it is really (quietly) hurting Iginla's reputation with a lot of Canadian fans whether they realize it or not.

I'll say it again: nobody cares that you don't care about Iginla anymore. You aren't made special by saying so.

That is such BULL in my opinion though.

Pens & Bruins both wanted to keep him, but couldn't. And it's not like there were 28 other teams breaking down his door trying to sign him.

How many realistic offers did he really have? As far as I remember it was Van & Col who gave him offers. If he wanted to continue playing hockey (which he obviously does) he had to sign elsewhere. And it's not as if he is useless player (29-30-59)

Iginla is an extraordinary talent and and outstanding human being. I'd be thrilled to see him traded to the Flames at the deadline in 2 years and get the Lanny treatment on a cup run. That would be justice.

LOL. Iggy's reputation is and will be just fine. The guy will be a first ballot hall of famer and is closing in on 600 goals, and has surpassed some of the greatest legends of the game already. Oh yeah, and he's one of the classiest guys to play the game in the last couple decades.

The only people who have a diminished respect for him are jilted fans who don't have the maturity to understand that things change. Honestly if you can't appreciate a legendary player who gave your team 16 seasons of a great career then that is your problem, not his, and certainly not the rest of the fans.

I've said it before, I'll say it again..the Iggy haters should stay home when the Flames inevitably retire his jersey.

Hah why so angry?

He did great things when he was here.
He's also done good things in Pittsburgh, Boston, and Colorado now.
Maybe he'll go somewhere else to try and find what he's looking for?

I'm not missing him nor waiting for him to come back to town.
Similar to how he hasn't been missing us.

It's nothing personal, I'll be there for when they retire him and remember the good times... if that's OK?

But he's definitely becoming easily forgotten given the current team, players and success. Sorry if that annoys you.

Thats a shame.

I was one of the more vocal people for wanting Iggy gone for the good of the team, but I wish him all the success in the world so long as it doesnt come at the expense of the Flames.

I hope he sets an incredible career record. I mean, what hes already got is incredible but the guy could probably play 3-4 more years at a 20+ goal pace.

Totally agree. The pieces never fell into place here, maybe because he was trying to do too much, or maybe because he was given too much influence on the makeup of the team that caused some disruption in the room (who knows?) but the guy bled Flames red for 15 years and all respect to him for that.

ANd hey, if he's still putting the biscuit in the basket in a couple years, who knows? I think #12 will be free ...

Revisionist history much?

Pittsburgh simply lost to an equally good team and you can see how they've been declining anyways lately.
Boston won a President's Trophy despite losing a pretty damn good player in Tyler Seguin. They were also without their #2 Dman for the playoffs and really just lost to the best goaltender in the world.
Colorado added a top 6 forward when it needed to add top 4 D. Their division got much, much better this year.
