To the @NHLFlames guys @JGillies32 @Janko61 & @johngilmour93 & to #1 daughter @tfeaster92 & @FriarsHockey CONGRATS!! You walk together 4ever
This tweet finally explains everything. It's been his daughter controlling his Twitter account all along, sending tweets you'd expect from a teenage girl, not an experienced hockey professional. This time she goes a little too far and gives herself a shout-out as the "#1 daughter". Busted!

#Flames prospect Jon Gillies, who just made 49 saves to backstop Providence to NCAA crown, last week: “I don't think there's any individual spotlight on anyone. It's a team game. We play a team game, and that's what got us here and gave us this opportunity, and we're going to play a team game to try to bring a national championship back to Providence. There's certain stuff that comes with being a goalie, but I'm just another one of the guys on this team. I never want it to be looked at any differently that way. It's been a total team effort up to this point, and we're going to try to keep it going.”
sounds like he'll fit in with the Calgary Flames organization perfectly. A humble team guy. I hope he signs with the Flames after the weekend then starts hanging around with the Flames during the playoffs.
Can we please not talk about Janko's draft position in this thread. It is completely unnecessary.
He's our property, had a hell of a postseason, and is an NCAA Champion. Let's just be happy he is ours.
Hope he signs.
I think Janko will be a solid replacement for Backlund down the line, or he may push Backlund down to the 4th line even.
Seems like an incredibly responsible big centreman with the potential for explosive offense. The fact that he's so important defensively at his age is a HUGE boost to his potential in the NHL.

Gillies doesn't steal games and doesn't show up for big games?
'Lol. you just can't critique prospects on this board. I still like him and think he's a good prospect, but I just don't think he's a blue chipper, and there's nothing wrong with that. Over the past 20 years, the FLames have had 3 blue chippers maybe, in Gaudreau, Monahan, and Phaneuf. Not every prospect needs to be a blue chipper.
Fact is Gillies gave up a bad goal tonight and put his team behind the 8 ball to start. Sounds like he's played well since and now he's won a championship which is great. I wouldn't expect him to step into the NHL anytime soon though. Probably needs a couple of years in the AHL, and there's nothing wrong with that. Still a great prospect.
Hilarious though. Fair game to criticize our NHL goalie for a weak goal especially if he's a post apex UFA signing, but better not make any criticism of our drafted prospects. They can never do any wrong.

I don't think we should be slotting Janko in the NHL just yet... great frozen four from the guy but his stats during his regular season were still very underwhelming. I'm liking what he did during the important games, but maybe he should play out his senior season and try to be a consistent offensive threat through the whole year.

I want to talk about it in a positive light. for three darned years we've had his draft positioning hung over our heads in such a negative light it was absurd.
This time, for once, it's all positive and now we can't talk about it? Nah, it's going to happen.

God forbid after three seasons the conversation swings positive for Jankowski.
No one slotted him in the NHL, we're just excited because of how damn good he looked. The most people are saying is they want to see him in the AHL.

I would rather him see more games in the AHL then the lighter college sched. And with the flames being deep down the middle thefe would be a lot of incentive for him to wait until August and sign with a team with less center depth instead of us especially if he wanted to sign this year.
So I think you need to offer him a contract thus year.
I'm glad I don't have to make the decision on Jankowski. I'm not sure what I'd do.
If he goes back, he'll definitely be one of the leaders next season and likely wear a letter. However, without Gillies, they won't likely be as strong a team.
I don't think he's the type of kid who would refuse to sign, so I don't think there's a danger of letting him go back for another year. Plus, it gives the Flames another free year of development for him.

I think right now the question is do you give Mark the opportunity to be the guy next year on a Providence that could be looking to repeat but would have a tougher time doing that without Gillies, or do they bring him to the AHL to begin his pro career and get double the games under his belt? Tough call but a lot of me is leaning to the AHL because I think at this point more hockey against bigger older men is the right direction for Mark to go, especially if he can train with who ever Monahan and Colby trained with in the off-season to add some weight to his frame. Great showing when it counted from him, really impressed!
