I think Calgary's situation was a lot more tenable in the 90s than Winnipeg's. More modern building, stable ownership, and a history of championship and competitive hockey (not to mention it seemed like the NHL was much more invested in keeping the Oilers and Flames afloat than the Jets). It's a lot more complicated than fan passion, for sure.
And even I can admit that the Flames picked up a lot of casual fans following the run in 04 that have really only returned in force with the recent success. I don't think 'bandwagon' is an appropriate description of either fanbase.
Don't get me wrong here, healthy rivalry is great. Just don't see the need for petty inflammatory attacks from either side here.

Umm...the Jets didn't leave Winnipeg because they didn't have fan support. They lost the team because of a terrible exchange rate, an awful stadium, and ownership issues. The fans were there until the very end.

"We want the Cup chants" (it was bad with Flames fans doing it early in the 3rd period of Game 6 of the SCF in 2004, nevermind 16 wins away from it), along with the horn operator laying it on pretty thick on the 5th goal in a 5-1 shinny game, is pretty weak.

The fans were there past the very end. I knew quite a few people in my teens that were obsessed with the post mortem Jets. A teacher of mine even had a shrine she built on the wall dedicated to the Jets, it was weird.

I just saw Senators fans chanting we want the cup on sportsnet. I assume you will be blasting them too?

Why wouldn't he? He just said he didn't like it when the Flames fans chanted it during the Stanley Cup Finals.
The point being made is that it's always embarrassing to several of us, not specifically because Winnipeg fans did it.

Yup, looks just as stupid on them as it does on Jets fans.

Regardless, to all decent Flames fans out there, good luck this playoff season.

I hardly think a couple of posters taking issue with a chant means that the entire Flames fan base is 'exploding in tears'. I do not care one bit, for one.
Pretty childish to go posting that on another board.

It is two-faced.
If this place is good enough for you to spend so much time here - then you shouldn't feel the need to go elsewhere and take a shot at the board. Particularly when you basically posted something that was not a reflection of "CP" but rather a couple of posters.
Don't take a dump on the place you seem to like to visit.
But at least we know who you ACTUALLY feel about Calgarypuck, and can keep that in mind going forward.

You...someone who posts on a message board...are telling a kid that posts on a message board that he should find something better to do with his life? Haha
