Johnny needs some points today to erase stone's performance...

Terrible decision, how can you scratch the guy when he is fighting for Calder.

So is Stone the favorite now? Tied in points with Gaudreau but more goals, and he was just as instrumental down the stretch in getting his team into the playoffs. Dammit Hartley, why not give Johnny the chance to secure the scoring race?

Some of you are so quick to panic.

It's not a Calder-Art Ross (and even if it were, they're tied now).

Calm down.

I do think Stone ends up with it at this point. Guy has been a beast down the stretch. I think Gaudreau would have won if he had the points lead.

He's tied for first overall in Rookie scoring.

Those of you who are acting like this last game of the year is going to make the difference are out to lunch.

Gaudreau played out east when in boston so that helps... but over the course of the year, i'm positive that more eastern writers would have watched Stone because of the time difference...

Bobby Mac not helping by fueling the Stone hype train. He's on twitter saying how Stone officially wins the rookie scoring race due to him having the tie-breaker (more goals).

If he got injured in this game then you would say playing him was a terrible decision.

Being scratched for this game will not impact if he wins the Calder or not, and if it does then so what? I'd rather have a healthy team in playoffs than an individual players award. And also if it does - then the voters have no clue about hockey and the award is meaningless...

I think the dilemma is that if Forsberg puts up any points today or somehow even takes the lead in points with a big game, they will have to at least nominate him, no? In that case, who will be the odd man out? I can't see Ekblad not being nominated at least. I would think that giving the Calder to Ekblad will be an easy out for the voters since the other 3 are so close.

I think "just as instrumental" is the key. If Stone was far-and-away the reason the Sens made the playoffs, I think he could overcome Johnny. The fact is that the story of the year in Ottawa has been Hammond and Johnny has been at least as valuable to the Flames down the stretch as Stone was in Ottawa.

Forsberg was big to start the year, but has fallen off near the end. Stone had a slow start but picked it up late. Gaudreau has been consistently strong pretty much all season.

I think the final three will be: Gaudreau, Stone, and Ekblad.

Stone just won the scoring race and Foresberg could, of course it impacts the voting. Johnny is not made of glass, curious how he feels about it.

Listening to the Sportsnet panel during the intermission gave me the impression that Stone is definitely the favorite now. Those two goals he put up today to take the rookie scoring lead and clinch a playoff spot for Ottawa is going to play heavily in the final vote and will tip the scales in his favor IMO

No he's not. Gaudreau is the favourite and personally I don't think voting will be close as he's going to get the most 1st place votes and the other guy will fall by the votes being diluted as Ekblad, Stone, and Forsberg getting a good split of the remaining votes.

You always jump to the worst case most pessimistic scenario.

No way does one game tip the scales, especially when in Calgary's season deciding game Gaudreau also was his team's best player putting up two points.
