the canucks are screwed! there are no back to back games in the play-offs (half of the canucks home games was the 2nd game in 2 nights for their opponent)
the flames don't take penalties and haven't had one in three straight games (cue the blame the refs from riotville faithfull)

I think as long as we keep Vancouver's PP chances limited, we'll do fine. As others have mentioned, I don't fear the Sedins 5v5, but they're highly effective on the man advantage.
In that regard, if Bollig and Ferland can stay disciplined, I think they could be two very effective players that can wear down Canuck forwards. Their physical play last night was highly effective and, more importantly, within the run of play. I think you can take Burrows out of his game by being the one to challenge him physically rather than letting him pick and choose his cheap shots.

Except that the Flames had a great record this year on their back to backs. Might actually help us!
And of course, it wouldn't matter anyway, as it's the same two teams. Both would be just as tired, both would have the same travel.
These teams matchup pretty well, I bet it goes 7 again, as all our series against Vancouver seem too.
Cept the very first one?
We are 3-1 against Vancouver in playoff matchups.
4-1 after this year.
The Flames and Nucks have met 6 times in the playoffs. Always in the first round. The Canucks won in 1982 and 1994. The Flames won in 1983, 1984, 1989, and 2004. The winner of the series has gone to the Finals 4 out of those 6 times.
The NHL went to a best of seven first round in 1987 (prior to that, the first round was a best of 5). Since then, every time the Flames and Canucks have met in the playoffs the series has gone to OT in Game 7, and the winner of the series went to the Stanley Cup Final.

I think Flames in 6 or 7. The top line is going to shine in the first round as I think they are all going to be playoff performers. It will be interesting to see what other playoff her so develop for the Flames. This feels like a special group and can do big things
This really is a very winnable series for us. All bias aside I think we can take them. I suppose the one advantage they do have on us is experience. Hopefully the youthful enthusiasm can overrides the nerves.
It's kind of a different feel than '04 as it feels 95% of the excitement for this matchup is coming from Calgary. With waning interest in the Canucks in Vancouver these past few years (see; playoff tickets still available) it almost feels like we're playing an American team rather than a Canadian rival.

I managed to get a couple tickets for the first home game in Van. Would love to meet up with some CP'ers before the game and possibly head down all together. Anyone have any suggestions for a meet up spot?
