hmmm... Ortio in as the backup... he must be feeling good enough to go in should something really bad happen. Hopefully Hiller doesn't need the help ;-)

Great news!

Didn't Ortio beat LA this season?

Good. Ortio can actually give confidence and push Hiller to put in good performances. I would feel comfortable with Ortio playing in relief, or even starting, if necessary.

A Flames win tonight probably gets Ortio a start in Winnipeg.

He can block more shots, plenty of them with more panache and flair. Unfortunately he is lost in the offensive zone and doesn't get very far when on the ice because he is slower than everybody else. But his stamina is good, he can go an entire game without having to sit on the bench to catch his wind.

Great news. Obviously Hiller is the guy. But it is nice to know that if there is a need to go to the backup, that we in fact actually have one.

Was hoping Ortio would be healthy by next week, this is a real bonus.

Wasn't Ortio complaining about still being in pain as recently as yesterday's practice? I didn't think he'd be ready yet.

The Flames wouldn't send Theissen down unless Ortio was ready to back up (aka ready to play).

No way they play him tonight, or maybe at all. But having him available definitely helps to quell the loss of Ramo.

I think there are probably a lot of players who aren't 100% right now. Not saying it's right or wrong, but it's playoffs and these guys want to be there.

Joni Ortio's presence on the #Flames roster is a big boost. Motivational too.

Maybe not, but at this point the thing that matters is the point at which Ortio at X% > Thiessan at 100%. So long as Ortio is at X he dresses.
