2-0 Washington halfway through the first. If Boston flops this game things are gonna be interesting for Ottawa

Backstrom has assisted on both of the Capitals goals and has 59 assists this season, impressive.

If Boston can win tonight in regulation or OT, they'll have the identical record as the Wings (including ROW), and move into third in the Atlantic by virtue of their head-to-head games.

If they lose in regulation, they'll be tied with Ottawa for the last wild card and make their last two games very interesting.

The only thing of interest in the Anaheim-Dallas game is that the Ducks can clinch first in the West with a win.

The only thing interesting about the Columbus-Toronto game is that one month ago today (March 8), the Jackets led the Leafs by one point. If Columbus wins tonight, they'll lead the Leafs by 18 points. With the crazy tears the Wild and Senators have been on, it's easy to overlook the run the Jackets have put together.

Capitals playing for home ice against the Islanders or penguins. Either would be a good series.

Dear God, the Leafs are terrible.

I think Randy Carlyle should win the Jack Adams.

Seriously

Because he somehow made this pathetic, slobbering accumulation of puck-mismanaging excrement look like a hockey team for half a season.

Didn't Kypreos make this joke already

EDIT: Even if the joke is stolen, it's still funny!

I looks like the Bruins are going to lose. It would be so amazing to see the miracle Sens make the playoffs over either them or the Pens.

And yeah the Leafs are ridiculous in their awfulness. Has their ever been a worse coaching change? Also, I wouldn't mind seeing Columbus win the draft lottery. They have have put in a solid non-tanking effort this year but were unfortunately devastated by injuries.

Wow, three starts for Holtby against the Bruins this season... Zero goals against.

That's impressive.

Man it was great to have a night where I had nothing but very casual interest in the OOT scoreboard. Ahhhhhhhh.

It's looking like 98 or 99 points could be what's needed in the East to make the playoffs this year. The 89-90 Flames finished 2nd overall with that many points. Just shows what the loser point is doing in the standings.

keep in mind that the East has Buffalo, Toronto, Carolina and New Jersey. Whereas in the West only Edmonton and Arizona aren't competitive.

I'd say it has more to do with the shootout win. The 8th place team will end up with 42 or more wins, like the Flames of 90. They also had 15 ties that probably would have ended up with more shootout win extra points.

Every game awarding a 2 point winner certainly is a huge factor. Just trying to show how different 99 points is today compared to 25 years ago.

Jamie Benn has just tied Crosby and Tavares for the league lead in scoring with a 3 point night.

I really hope the BJ's get McKinnon.

That franchise is playing with pride, and is only out of it because of some ridiculous bad luck with injuries this year.

I assume you mean McDavid.

I agree with that sentiment. Of all the non-playoff teams, Columbus is the one I'm hoping wins the lottery.
