How can they send a goalie down and recall one on emergency???

Man I really wish the Edmonton is no good thread wasnt locked. I think were giving them a little too much credit. They're still no good and until they have a season that proves otherwise we need to keep that thread open.

It's more LA's fault for playing their back up goalie in one of their most important games of the year. Edmonton is still no good.

Nobody is saying otherwise. It's just been locked temporarily because Edmonton did something extremely good yesterday. Although I don't think the old thread will be unlocked since it's massive. When it's time, a new one will be made.

The funny thing is that there is a pretty good chance that Oilers victory won't matter

one way or another...Flames need another win

I know, I know, SJ but do you really want to give the kings one chance to beat SJ and make the playoffs?

What? The Kings getting 0 points last night instead of 2 points does matter. It matters very much.

It matters a great deal. For lots of reasons. But here's one:

3rd period, tomorrow night, game is tied 2-2 with 2 minutes left. LA has no choice but to pull the goalie. Backlund scores into the empty net and the Flames are in the playoffs.

If LA wins last night, they're not pulling that goalie

Why are they pulling the goalie?

Calgary needs two points not one, LA would probably be perfectly fine with securing 1 point and trying to win in a shootout or ot, and then hope they can beat the Sharks and the Flames lose to Winnipeg.

Was going to say they need two, but forgot, Winnipeg is still in the picture. So my bad.

Having said that, if its clear in Colorado that Winnipeg has gotten at least a point and clinched, my scenario still stands.

No it doesn't. Winnipeg doesn't really matter at this point.

The Flames need two more points, or to have LA lose two points. If the Flames and Kings are tied late in the third, LA could still win in OT and hope for a Flames loss and Kings win on Saturday. There would be no reason for them to pull Quick in a tied scenario.

Bachman himself was up on emergency recall. They simply switched who is at the NHL level.

The Flames can only clinch tomorrow night BECAUSE L.A. lost to the Oilers. If the Kings had the extra two points, it would be going right down to the wire.

Not true. They can clinch with an overtime / shootout win because of last night.

Also not true.

What last night meant that the flames can win either game and control their own destiny.

Prior to the kings loss a win against the kings would have still put us in the playoffs but a loss to the kings would have meant the kings would have to at least lose in overtime for the Winnipeg game to matter.

Not that it really matters... But even if the Kings won last night it would have put them even with the flames in terms of points with 2 games remaining for each team. In that hypothetical situation a flames regulation win over the kings would clinch it as the flames hold the tie breaker and a 2 point lead with one game for the kings remaining..... So he's right, if the flames win in regulation tomorrow it won't have mattered.

It was getting too big for the forum to handle. I'm actually kinda shocked the mods didn't close it sooner.

It feels like I'm in a parallel universe seeing this thread on the main page instead of the No Good thread. The Oil did pull off a miracle win though so I guess the least I can do is become an Oiler fan for the rest of the season.

Edmonton is on the verge of greatness, they only need to sign a centre, defence, and goalie. Hall, Ebs, Nuge, Yak city, the Schultz, and the 2015 1st are all superstars who will lead the team to greatness surpassing even the Gretzky years. Stay the course Lowe, with your Stanley Cup experience it only takes simple math to know this team is a future dynasty.

How did I do? Thankfully there are only two games left to be an Oiler fan. I'm looking forward to next season with inevitable high expectations followed by a disastrous start and reading all about it on the new Edmonton is No Good thread.
