And yet Baertschi still couldn't crack the lineup. It reflects rather poorly on Vancouver that there is room for him on theirs.

Poirier can play both LW or RW - but I think primarily he has been playing left on the farm no?

I just think it is a poor way to make a point. Argue what people are actually saying, instead of exaggerating what they are saying to further one's own position.

a lot of posters exaggerate to make their points. i think you're annoyed with him because you fundamentally disagree with the point he's trying to make.

unless you want to start calling out posters from the other side.

No. There are over a million words in the English language for a reason.

Actually hyperbole bugs me regularly and I regularly call it out. He's done it twice lately on this topic alone (saying people were calling Sven a cancer - which was flat out false) which is why I'm challenging him to be more accurate when describing people's opinions.

Anyways I've made my point. Moving on.

So you would've preferred something along the lines 'it's not uncommon for young players to have problematic behaviour' vs 'shocking' essentially? To me the message is the same.

However I've noticed you on multiple occasions take offense to certain comments I've made. if this style of posting rubs you the wrong way then you could always just block my posts from being viewed.

I'm really not trying to be problematic.

I apologize on my end for the derailment.

Look I think as has been mentioned in the earlier parts of this thread that Baertschi and the Flames did not work out. It had nothing to do with the players actual ability to make the roster.

I think it says more about the players relationship with his former team, not the depth on the team he was traded to. Vancouver has done just fine without him I'd say. I think the Canucks are hoping he may come in and provide some scoring.

But to say their depth is bad cause they call Sven up is a bit over the top.

I agree that calling Sven up doesn't mean Vancouver's depth is bad. I don't think that is a valid point. But nor is it valid to say that Sven not being on Calgary's roster had "nothing to do with the players actual ability to make the roster". Fit is a factor but the bottom line is that Sven didn't show enough to make the roster - so that is part of it.

Sven didn't fit on this team. Vancouver thinks he fills a void on theirs and they gambled a 2nd round pick on him. They could be right and he makes their team. It happens and in a fair trade both teams come out ahead. I know he wasn't going anywhere on our team and we'd have probably lost him for nothing but instead we got something.

Absolutely! It seems he and the Flames and what the staff asked him to do was not going to work. And TBH he may not pan out at all. Benning took a flyer on the guy and it's up to Sven to prove that his experience in Calgary was not the norm.

It's up to him to prove he belongs in the NHL. Calgary got great value IMO for a player that was going to walk. Vancouver is hoping he is going to find his touch and mesh with Hansen and Horvat.

Yup that's the way I see it too - it was a sensible deal for both sides. I would be Vancouver placed slightly high value on the player than other teams because of their familiarity with him from guys with the organization.

Not only that but Bennings love of prospects. I just don't think that anyone should unreasonably say the Canucks lack depth.

From what I've read and seen from the boards Sven and Jake Virtanen were ripping it up in Utica while Kenins play has dropped considerably, which helped make this decision for them.
