Seriously, he spent Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb with the Flames / Flames trainers / Flames coaches. He was pissed when he got sent down and I'm sure Treliving said, "You'll be back here the first chance we get".

And as someone earlier mentioned, the AHL isn't even an option for him next year. So why send him to a team with very little to play for with no players or coaches he really knows when it's not even an option for him next year?

Sam has forced their hand. He's way too good for junior. He can't go to the AHL. He has to be a Flame next year. Give him a head start vs the Oilers and Coyotes and take it from there!!

I've never been more confident in a prospect living up to the hype. He won't let anyone down...he never has. Sam will help the team and add the spark many are mentioning. And I will be cheering!!

On the road against the oilers is the perfect place for Sam to start. Since he practiced with the team a bunch he should know the systems. Seriously Raymond, Colborne, Granlund are providing nothing right now.

Steinberg saying on Overtime that he knows for a fact the Flames do not want to burn a year of his ELC.

It might cost the Flames a playoff spot if they don't call him up. He could be just what they need to finish the season off on a positive note.

Definitely bring him up. His young and energetic legs are just what this team needs, and he's likely our 5th or 6th best forward right now to boot. Bennett-Stajan-Jones sounds good to me. Some veteran moxy to help with any nerves and give him some PP time on that abomination of a 2nd unit.

If they don't bring him up and we lose a pivotal game by 1 goal, we could be asking 'what if?' for the next 5 months.

Time to put all the cards on the table. No regrets.

Without a doubt, it's the most important decision this team has faced in over a decade.

Would be disappointing to see him go to the AHL at this point, especially if them not wanting to burn a year is the excuse.

Only way we burn a year is if we make the playoffs, would anyone be mad at that point?

What is 2-3 playoff home games worth vs a year shaved off before his Ufa period? Am curious, financially speaking .

Sureloss, don't you have some insiders who can go to the Kingston airport and see if he get's on a plane to Calgary or Adirondack? We need to know!

I really hope he comes to Calgary. Was Johnny's situation any different for the one game last year?

Burning a year wouldn't be worth it

Also a ticket in the Mcdavid lottery to consider.

If he plays the last four games and we do make the playoffs will he only be allowed to play a maximum five playoff games? I really do think it's a good idea for him to play with the Flames, but it would be really stupid to burn his entry level year.

I completely agree. What benefit is there to going to the AHL for 8 games for a team that is out of a race. On the other side of that coin, how much experience is gathered with a team that is 1 pt. up with 5 games remaining?

As for not burning a year, play him 3 of the games in the Reg season, and 6 in the playoffs. As much as we all love this team, the chances of heading to the 2nd round is low.

Whoa. Raymond and bollig into the sun I get.

But I like the body of work of Backlund and colborne this season. Bad games here and there but they are decent 12-15 min per game guys.

Yeah he's been saying it all afternoon. Guy is a freaking wet blanket.

If Bennett is actually good enough and the Flames are actually successful enough that he earns more than 9 games?

We can bring him here but Hartley has to actually put him in the lineup. So for that year to be burned that would mean we make the playoffs. and probably go to round 2, because you know if he does get here Hartley will practice him for a bit before putting him in a game. And he has to beat out that crowded group of Ferland/Granlund/Bollig/Shore. So to get 9 he would have to become a significant contributor. That's a HUGE win. That's absolutely worth losing a year of his ELC.

How many games (if any) can he play at this stage in the season without burning the year on the ECL?

Send him to the AHL to play the final 6-8 games (won`t burn a year off his ELC) and then if the Flames are still in the playoffs bring him up to be around the team during that time to be apart of the atmosphere.

He has not played much this year so the 6-8 pro games will be good experience for him.
