Yup, I think you are.

The Flames definitely wouldn't be letting him play unless he's 120%, and I think it's pretty obvious he is.

Yep, Flames won't go full Oiler on Sam.

Adirondack loses another one tonight. They're now 6 points out of a playoff spot with 8 games left. Worse, they're in 12th in the Conference, so they have to pass 4 teams to make the playoffs.

Calgary could use the boost of having an excited kid playing his first NHL game right now.

I say bring him in. Best to start him on the road, as opposed to home, which means Saturday. Doesn't have to play each of the last 4, but a better option IMO than anyone on popcorn row right now, and the way that the Backlund and Colborne line is going through the motions out there, add some spark with him in there and one of them (Backlund) out for a game or two.

Would love to bring him in, but realistically they're probably going to send him to the AHL.

This makes no sense. He is playing the Oilers and Coyotes 2 of the bottom 3 teams in the league and the perfect competition for him to face. AHL makes absolutely no sense. He has spent the majority of the year with the Flams in calgary. He has relationships with the team and coaches and nothing with addy. Calgary is where he should play

Bring him in! Now is not the time to be conservative. The energy he'll provide will be a big boost to the team.

As mentioned, ADR is in a playoff hunt, but looking a bit bleaker.

Plus, yes, you want to give that roster hope and a spark, but you owe nothing to that city or fans, as that team won't be there next year (if that ever factors in anyways). There is no advantage to him being there, outside of the Flames not wanting him against NHL competition right now.

Not sure that going from the emotional rollercoaster of his short junior year where he powered the team to that 6th seed and then got swept, to telling him to go play for basically nothing is the best strategy. How motivated can you expect Bennett to be, who assumed he was NHL ready in the first place, to play 7 games for the farm team out of a playoff spot. Pretty harsh treatment. He doesn't even know anyone there. And the league is full of goons and idiots who would love to take his head off. He would probably be safer in the NHL.

Right now the Flames are a team with a very good top line and then a bottom 9. Bennett is certainly a good enough player to help out the 2nd or 3rd line, and the injection of energy could be just what this team needs. Not to mention the next two games are against near AHL level competition anyway. Put the kid in.

He's gonna be an absolute bulldog his first couple games. Get him in right away. He's gonna hate the Oilers. Can't wait to see him chirp Hall, Nuge and the rest of the prematurely ordained super kids in Edmonton.

Bring him to Calgary. With all the goonery going on in the AHL, that's the place he is most likely to suffer an injury

We are so close to making the playoffs, might as well go all in

If they don't want him playing against NHL competition, this is the perfect time to call him up, with the Oilers and Coyotes on tap.

We need his offence and energy for secondary scoring. Grandlund or Colborne can't sit out a few games.

This is a good point.

AHL: Put him on a team that has almost no chance to make the playoffs. The league is full of goons. The coach has made almost all of the players regress offensively since last year. He would be on the top lines and a lot would be expected of him.

NHL: Colborne will be able to sit a game or two. I think that would be good for Colborne. I like the guy, but he has struggled for quite a while now. Bennett will be able to experience the NHL so he knows what to expect for the upcoming season. He may give the flames some magic. Probably less likely to get injured in the NHL. The team is in the heat of a playoff race.

Seems like most media types are saying that Adirondack is the more likely option.

Do we only have one call-up left?

I wonder if that plays into this decision...
