40 second load times is a big exaggeration too (one I've seen a lot too). They're about 20 seconds, at worst. Still long, but they aren't as egregious as everyone is making them out to be.

I haven't played Bloodborne but considering the horrible PC port of Dark Souls I am not shocked to hear the game is poorly optimized on new hardware.

Edit: Digital Foundry ran tests and posted load times in some areas over 50 seconds. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...mance-analysis

The problem with the load screen is a) how often people die in the game and b) its just the title of the game. If they had done something, anything, to distract people while it was loading, it probably wouldn't be such an issue.

Look at Destiny as an example, "flying" to the location takes 30-40 seconds but they hide it behind seeing your custom ship and some weak story "plot" as you fly in.

The reason you keep hearing 40 second load times is that they have been actually measured as just over 40 seconds for some load points. Eurogamer (don't have the link but it's easily found by searching) measured the load times (only 12 seconds to load dream area which I agree with and 40-45 seconds at say the Central Yharnam lamp) and frame rate is all over the board from 16 fps to 60. Chemgear is usually all over these things on XBone games so I'm surprised he hasn't posted a link.

I'm sure there will be a future patch to improve performance as this is no different than a lot of big titles in that they would have been served better by being delayed and further optimized prior to launch.

I have the game and I was just saying you are exaggerating when you say it has PS3 graphics. Load times may be 40 seconds but not all of them as usual people are cherry picking the worse parts and making it sound like all load times are that long. Its not a perfect game but with a 93 meta score I think its pretty darn close.

I picked up an XB1 around Xmas and have loved it up until now. In the past couple of weeks the WiFi download speeds have dropped to glaciarlike levels (.038) making playing FUT or anything online impossible.

Looking online it appears to be a known issue with XB1 and comcast internet? I know a wired connection is best etc but it's not feasible for me. Looks like I'm going to go trade in the XB1 and change to PS4.

What are you reading, no link? Eurogamer? 16 and 60? You sure you read it from there?

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...mance-analysis

despite implementing a 30fps CAP, Bloodborne struggles to run at a smooth frame-rate. Across the breadth of our tests in both Central Yharnam and the Hunter's Dream hub area, genuine drops are infrequent, but a factor that drags performance down to brief lows of 24fps.

Yeah, sorry haven't been on the forum too much recently. I've been a little sick . . . cough, cough . . . and busy playing this game that's gotten universal acclaim.

Seriously though, if you check out the article they have a nice section charting the difference if you toss in a SSHD or a SSD. If you are so inclined.

Just the typical veiled, passive Xbox fanboy-ism from EE, then.

Hey chemgear, do you have any tips or anything about swapping out the internal hard drive on the PS4? Like what's a good one and are there any risks? I've been thinking about it since IGN had an article on the benefit to load times. Just unsure as to what it entails.

Not chemgear but hopefully this helps. Series of image of guiding you through swapping the HDD. http://imgur.com/a/9giKA

I think it's relatively straightforward once you've decided which drive you want - that process is highly dependent upon how much you want to spend though. SSD's are still relatively expensive and I can't imagine you'd want less than the stock half GB. You might be interested in the hybrid SSHD that is much cheaper and still gives a bit of improvement but obviously not the full effect.

Personally, I get a little nervous messing around in the guts of things without watching a ton of videos first. I'm almost certain the process doesn't void your warranty but I'd still suggest the following:

or

There is also a great long discussion about particular drives and people's experience here:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=716288

Eurogamer talks a bit about it here:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...our-ps4-to-2tb

Eurogamer also give some nice breakdowns of the Bloodborne loading times under various hard drives in the article that EE mentioned but didn't list. At least that is the article I think he mentions . . . I can't seem to line up his numbers.

Spoiler!

And finally Sony has their official post about the process here:

https://support.us.playstation.com/a...pgrade-ps4-hdd

I hope that helps a little (take your time with it, don't rush like I tend to when I get nervous.) Good luck sir!

I haven't had to upgrade the Xbone hard drive but there some people might be able to use some information as well. I believe (but could be wrong) that the Xbone won't allow you to replace and upgrade the hard drive. However some of the OS updates do allow external storage. Apparently it will speed up games though not the UI/OS as I think that is forced to run off the stock drive. Again, not a 100% sure on the technical specs or tests there.

Anyhow, the Neogaf discussion and experiences with this:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=825463

And Eurogamer and others with the process and results:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...-upgrade-guide

http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinio...ox-one-storage

Probably don't need a video for plugging it in but the above hopefully gives some info about what external drive might work for you. Good luck!

I have an external drive plugged into my XBOX one and it is where all new games are installed. Works like a charm. It's a 4 TB WD so I won't be looking for anything better for a long time.

Coincidentally, I changed my PS4 hard drive last night. I put in a 1 TB Seagate Solid State hybrid drive. Went very well. With the latest PS4 update, I was able to backup my old hard drive (which is good because I don't have the greatest internet and Sony's servers were slow when I recently downloaded Bloodborne and MLB 15) in about 3 hours. And it took about 2 hours to restore the content to my new drive. It's super easy to change the PS4 drive. The only tip I'll give you if you're backing up your old drive is to make sure what you're backing it up onto is formatted as a FAT32 drive. If it's not, the PS4 won't recognize it.

yes, kids love it, on both 360 and one. Kinect sports games are the easiest games to pick up and play, and tweens get the dance genre. if a person is not exposed to children, especially across different age groups that want to play at the same time, then this will have been missed.

Have you gotten it done, or are you just looking at the website? Because when he's referring to the Xbox 1 on the site, he means the XBOX, not the Xbox One.

If he DOES do Xbox One hard drive upgrades, that's pretty wicked, but I'm doubtful that's actually the case now, as I recall there was supposedly an OS update that went out and 'fixed' that.

I have 3 kids, they thought the 360 kinect was neat at first but it died off like Wii Sports bowling

for the one though? what is the last xbox one kinect game other than dance games...its a serious question because to me it seems like they have totally abandoned the thing

Kinect sports adventures on the Xbox one. Kinect adventures on 360 got a ton of play in my house as well.

agreed on Wii, although every so often Wii ski or the two Wii sports go on.

maybe motion games have run their course like rock band before them. to support your point, I would have thought that there were more Kinect games in development since m$ insisted that everyone buy a Kinect at launch. I like my Kinect for voice control, but definitely there is no compelling game reason to buy Kinect on Xbox one especially if you have the 360.
