Don't bet on that. The city makes a pile of money renting out Shouldice and the like.

It went about as well as I could imagine.

There were 6 of us and there were 2 from the club, assistant coach Nic Reyes and another who's name I can't remember for the life of me. One of the supporters drove in from Medicine Hat, so hats off (no pun intended) to him.

Here are some notes:

- We decided on a scarf design. It's going to look fantastic, can't wait. Aiming to have them for first game. They'll sell quickly
- Nic mentioned he thought it would work best that we get our own area at Hellard so that we provide atmosphere without worrying about the soccer moms. Not sure where the best spot is for us so that's still to be worked out.
- There was lots of discussion of what supports in Victoria and Portland do, just for some ideas
- Home pub is Pazzer's for now. May need to reconsider the home pub as we grow. Want to be able to have a place that players can go for a beer with supporters after the game.
- Discussion about a beer garden at Hellard was mentioned but I don't know if that is confirmed or just speculation. Would be awesome if it comes true.
- Tailgating before games was also floated.
- Chants will be quick and easy to start to allow others to join in, more complicated songs to come organically.
- Drumming / music might take a bit but hopefully we can get at least a drum going this year. I really want bagpipes but that might be pushing it.
- To try and draw other fans to the first game May 17, we're thinking of going to the Ship and Anchor early and chatting folks up, then going to the game. Depending on success rate we might do this at other bars as well

We're going to set up a second meeting at Pazzer's before the season starts, and this time on a weekend. The meeting will allow us to scope out the bar and maybe discuss our intentions with the folks there. Hopefully we can get a bigger group if we work it around a Whitecaps match or something.

Was it Brian McDonnel? Not sure if Nic mentioned it, but he's apparently going to be a player-coach. Still a very good player 'at his age'.

Love the choice of pub....good ol' Pazzers! (Sask)

Nope, was an older Englishman, by my guess in his 50s. Probably on the business end.

May 17. Perfect debut time from a supporters perspective as we won't have to work the next day.

Also, turns out Man U and Arsenal play May 17 at 9 am, so Ship and Anchor for that, then probably cab to Pazzer's and start the shenanigans.

Not saying that's anywhere near the best location for a soccer specific stadium in the city, but odds are that's where it will be.
If it's the location I'm thinking of they destroyed a devastating amount of wetlands on that land. Can't believe that was allowed to go through and wasn't protected. (If it is the place I'm thinking of).

The Calgary Gooners will be watching the Arsenal match at the Pig and I'm betting a few will be heading down to watch Foothills as well. You're invited to join us if you'd like!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll throw it out to the group and see what they say.

I could do with either Ship or P&D. The latter does have quite good food. For now consider my vote either, haha.

It sucks that this is all happening during tax season.

Anyways, let me know when they get in and I'll buy one.

Scarves won't be in until May I imagine so you should be safe, Locke.
