It's crazy to think of the number of Flames who might take home trophies (or at least get nominations) this season.

Gaudreau - Calder, Bing?
Russell - Masterton
Hartley - Adams
Gio - Norris (if he wasn't injured)
Hudler - Art Ross ( if he goes on a massive tear....)
You forgot Conn Smythe

Wasn't he only 4 away before the game yesterday?

from the article:

Quote:
Russell was credited with three more blocks in Monday’s meeting with the Stars and, with a total of 272, is now just one shy of equalling the NHL’s single-season record.

Anton Volchenkov racked up 273 blocked shots for the Ottawa Senators during the 2006-07 campaign, the second year that league officials tracked real-time stats.

Looking again, Russell is at 272, Volchenkov's record is 273

It's not a question of how many games to berak the record. It's how many shifts.

And I tend to think that the modern day record since they started keeping track is also the actuall all-time record. There's no way old timers with tiny pads and no helmets or shields got more.

Russell averages 3.6 blocks per game this season. I'm sure he'll have this record in the bag on Thursday.

Does it go to the awards ceremony with all 30 nominations for the Masterton?

Or do they shrink it down to 3 nominees like the other awards for the awards show?

Just the top three. Though The Masterton is actually the only trophy that nominates candidates. For all other awards the "finalists" are just the top three vote getters.

The guy has been a massive reason for the team's success. Well deserved recognition.
