Very unclassy on the part of Danielle smith. But what are the thoughts on a private text conversation being aired on Twitter? Is that acceptable?

I think she should line up every hillbilly rube in the Wildrose party who voted against the party's anti-discrimination platform and tell them all to piss off too.
Here's what I like about her...

I'm sick of dullards in opposition making up dirt, getting in the way and generally being contrarian for no other reason than that's what they're supposed to do to keep their job. At least Smith was honest. She did a great job nagging Redford to death and hopefully she'll come back the next time we need someone with a brain.

A friend of mine met Danielle and her team at the local McDonalds here in High River last weekend. Smith stated she was quite confident she was going to win. Fast forward to yesterday where she was most likely devistated when she had lost.
Behind that politician is a human being who was very upset and hurting from the loss and was caught off gaurd by that reporter. Her response to some questions was in very poor taste but at the same time I give her credit for when she later apologised for the remark.
I don't have a twitter account for this very reason. In a moment of weakness you could say something that could damage your reputation. Once it's out there you can't take it back or have it erased.

Danielle represented every thing that is wrong with politics today. She disregarded democracy when she crossed the floor. While running those byelections she was secretly making back room deals to become a member of the PC party. Most of all she sent a message to the Highood region that your votes don't count and as a politician I will do what is best for me. Her losing was a great day for democracy.
Can Vassy really discuss professionalism when she is publishing private text conversations? What a rat. She should be the one apologizing to Smith. So what if Smith used strong language? She didn't insult her or belittle her.

Wildrose leader Brian Jean asks candidate Bill Jarvis to step down over 'brown people' comment caught during leadership announcement.....
Quote:
On Sunday, Jean ordered Jarvis’ immediate resignation.
“Earlier today I was made aware of a comment made by Bill Jarvis at last night’s Wildrose event,” Jean said in a statement.
“The comment was disrespectful and while I accept that Mr. Jarvis did not intend to insult, I will not accept inappropriate statements that fail to show respect for all Albertans. I have asked Mr. Jarvis to step down and he has agreed.”
Quote:
“We need lots of brown people in the front,” is the brainless bullet, uttered mere inches from a live microphone.
The words were overheard as Wildrose candidates jostled for space on a crowded stage Saturday night, only minutes before new leader Brian Jean took the podium to promote the party, post-Danielle Smith.
Quote:
Jarvis made the quip standing between two Wildrosers of non-European decent, including Calgary Fort candidate Jeevan Mangat, and to be fair, he appeared to be joking around, a grin plastered to his face the whole time.
But others on the stage weren’t laughing at all, realizing Jarvis’ attempt at ethnic humour was carried over the PA and live-streamed online from Calgary’s Sheraton Cavalier hotel, with a lot of Albertans listening.
“You know the mic’s on, right?” asked one cringing colleague, to which Jarvis replied, “Is the mic on? Ah, okay.”
The thing that is going to be a problem for Brian Jean is his donations to the PCs, and then his donation to the Prentice leadership campaign. I'm sure that is coming up in the election and frankly how do you discredit a guy who you helped fund? Bizarre choice for the Widlrose in that sense.

I don't think its that hard of a thing to get on top of
"Yes I donated to The Premier's leadershp campaign and the PC's because I thought he was the right man for the job. Sadly, Ive seen him in action and I feel that Alberta needs better leadership, and their recent budget confirms that Jim Prentice is not he leader that I thought he was, next question"

True, but the media is going to publish anything that they can. I get Danielle should have started off with "Off the record, piss off"
But connecting journalism and professionalism is an undefinable task.

Haha, I don't think that answers anything. He gave something like $10k and we're talking what, 6-8 months ago? I'm 100% sure that if this was say the Liberal donating to the PCs or something like that you would crucify the guy for his stupidty.

Personally I'm tempted to crucify anyone that donates to any political party now days. Its not like your going to become influential or important.
It was 6 months ago and look at what's passed. The defection of Smith. Bizarre looking in the mirror comments, a punitive budget. During the leadership campaign Prentice was different then leader Prentice is.
Why would a Liberal donating to the PC's be the same. For the most part Wildrose people are supposed to be in at least the same political spectrum as the PC's fiscally.
Its not that much of a stretch for a right of center person to donate to what is perceived as a right of center candidate for a right of center party, only to go after the fact, this guy isn't what I thought he was. He talked like a fiscal conservative, and now he's a tax and grabber.
I think your stretching a bit Slava.

Did he actually give $10K to Prentice's campaign or $10K to the PC's? Reading this the limit is $2K to the candidate and $15K to the party. Or are leadership campaign donations exempt??

Some of those things happened after Jean was running for the leadership though. Sure the defection of Smith didn't, but the budget and looking in the mirror comments (which I frankly agree with as far as the sentiment), were after he decided to run for the Wildrose leadership. Its hilarious that in that short time frame he was confident enough to write a cheque and then suddenly not only get cold feet on that idea, but to outright oppose him. In that time frame the only real change was Bill 10...maybe that is the opposition?

3. He donated to Jim Prentice’s leadership campaign
Although the former MP said he purchased a Wildrose membership in 2011 and considered running for the provincial legislature, he said he had concerns with Danielle Smith’s leadership. This prompted him to donate $10,000 to Mr. Prentice’s winning leadership campaign last year.
Quote:
5. His son recently died
Only days before Wildrose members were set to cast their ballots, Mr. Jean suspended his campaign citing a close death in the family. His 24-year-old son, Michael, died after months in hospital suffering a mystery illness. Doctors received the diagnosis — lymphoma — too late to save his life. Mr. Jean has cited his experience with the healthcare system as one of the reasons why he ran for leadership of the party.
I would think in a debate or attack ad campaign that the whole donation to the Prentice leadership campaign is probably a area that Prentice won't want to touch.

Because the answer is "shut up, my son just died"?
That's absurd.
I can only assume you meant something else and I'm not following.
