Looks like it will be a two-screen afternoon tomorrow.
Providence and the Flames both play tomorrow at 3:00pm MT.

Jankowski cleared what would have been have the tying goal.
Leads to an assist on the EN goal.

Some Oilers vs Flames connections in Denver vs Providence.
Oilers hot shot prospect Joey LaLeggia and Hobey Baker finalist plays for Denver. He is one of the best d-men in college hockey.

Gutsy call by Miami coach and almost paid off. That was the most exciting I've ever seen in college hockey. Providence players might be freaking pinching themselves after surviving the comeback by Miami. Hats off on Miami.

Two of the top 4 teams have been knocked out of the tournament.
If North Dakota loses tonight (down 1-0 early), BU will be the highest-ranked team in the Frozen Four.

North Dakota wins 4-1. They will play BU in the Frozen Four semifinal.
Because of the set bracket structure, the #2 team in the Pairwise will play the #3 team in that semi. On the other side of the bracket, Denver (5) is the highest-ranked team remaining. Omaha was 8th, Providence 15th, and RIT was 16th by virtue of winning their conference, but really 38th overall.

Gillies article:
http://www.pressherald.com/2015/03/2...idence-hockey/
Quote:
This is the first time Providence has reached back-to-back NCAA tournaments, and Gillies is a big reason. The 6-foot-5 junior ranks seventh in the nation with a 1.95 goals-against average and sixth with a .931 save percentage.
Gillies downplayed his significance, focusing instead on a strong defensive corps that helped Providence lead Hockey East this season by allowing only 2.00 goals per game.
But his coach, Nate Leaman, left no doubt how much of his team’s success will ride on Gillies this weekend.
“Look, the ice surface is 200 feet. Even if you play great defensively, the puck is going to get to the net at least 20 to 25 times,” Leaman told the Providence Journal. “It’s tough to win if you don’t have a good goalie. Fortunately we have one of the best in the country – if not the best.”
This also might be Gillies’ collegiate swan song. A third-round draft pick of the Calgary Flames, he is likely to turn pro after the season. Which he’s hoping happens in two weeks at TD Bank Garden, at the bottom of a dogpile of ecstatic teammates.

I liked what I saw from Jankowski last night. His line seemed to have the best possession, he was always the first in on the forecheck and he would throw hits on the forecheck too. He seemed to win the key faceoffs as well. I thought he was playing better than guys that were getting more time than him.

My PVR screwed up so I came in at 6-5. I think it does say a lot that he was on for a lot of key draws.

I've been watching the Flames game on the tv and the PC game on my iPad, so I haven't given it my undivided attention, but it looked like Providence was carrying the play pretty well late in the period.
