Crazy, it must be getting harder and harder to compete with online.

Any chance of a pre-April fools joke??? The link says the website is down, yet it is still up.

If it is a joke... I don't get it considering people have been expecting this since bestbuy bought them.

Edit: you would think they would want to sell their stock prior to closing as well.

Holy crap... that came out of nowhere. Don't know what to say to all the people effected by this, it just sucks.

I just got a flyer in the mail from them yesterday. Why the hell were they still putting out flyers if they were getting ready to pull the plug?

Crappy, that was one of my go to places as a one stop shop for TV, gaming, and gaming needs. That sucks.

Don't think so, on twitter ex employees are posting photos of the stores shuttered and talking about being laid off.

I think they're closing for good, not re-branding.

If it isn't a joke, lots of job loss. The current story is that they are closing the stores, not converting.

Considering many are side by side, it make sense.

I still think it might be a lame joke, and the employees in on it. Could not make this joke on April 1 as it may affect the market, so you do it on the weekend before.

If this is true, there would be a ton of losses. Future Shop/Best Buys business model was to put stores within 1 block of each other whenever possible. Duplication would be stupid that close.

That would however be kinda hilarious if they re-branded the Northland Future Shop a Best Buy, and there was a Best Buy, across the mall from a Best Buy.
