Let's move the Byron's place on the roster debate, OK?

I also believe a lot of his detractors are biased due to him missing on break aways so often, breakaways that most guys in his position and salary range get one or two of in their whole careers.
Fair enough, I just see how Byron is playing right now as him hitting his developmental wall. Good role player but he's going to lose a spot to other players moving forward who have higher upside in his role.

I've never doubted his energy or what he brings. I just don't think it's enough to keep him round long term. He need to add finish to his game to keep up.

Why? It's intermission and gamethreads don't really get that many posts compared to how many people read/view them.

I guess contact a mod if you don't like it and they can make that decision, but I don't really see Flames related discussion as that bad in game threads.

I'm not going to point fingers at any particular posters, but it's easy to find those that are purely what I call "optic analysists". They focus on the one negative play or aspect and disregard the other, deeper, comprehensive characteristics and plays of a player. Goaltender blamers are the biggest culprits, IMO.

But why couldn't Byron be a great 4th line player for this team? An energy guy that averages almost a breakaway a game would be an awesome piece to keep around.

Engelland is doing a superb job of shutting down Brodie, unfortunately he can't stop anyone on the Wild...

Engelland has his flaws, but he never cost the Flames anything against that period. Wideman on the other hand, got very lucky.

Could someone please remind Devan Dubnyk he used to play for the Edmonton Oilers? Just to bring him back to earth. Mind you he hasn't been tested today. I wish they shoot more in the rest of the game.

Byron's burst at the end of his shift created sustained possession in the Wild end. He has shown some pretty impressive speed on a number of his shifts. Not sure why anyone would be railing Byron.

Long-term, always earned, never given.

according to sportsnet.ca, we got worked in the faceoff dot that period. 16-7 for the Wild. That's a 30.4% win rate.

Not acceptable.

Hahaha, of course Hiller wanted to be a goalie because of the goalie gear.

Jonas Hiller kind of looks like a giant size Peter Dinklage.

Watch the Flames breakout when he's playing with Brodie, Engelland physically cannot pass across the blue line. When Brodie was playing with Giordano he could easily reverse to a hinging Gio. It kept the forecheckers honest, now the forecheckers know they only need to take away Brodie and the Flames breakout is screwed. Schlemko isn't perfect but he makes a good first pass, which will open up room for Brodie to play his game.
