I'm actually feeling pretty good about this one. Feeling a Flames blowout that sends Minnesota reeling. 6-2 flames beginning a 4 game losing streak for Minny

Sure we've been in playoff races since then... but I know, personally anyway, I haven't been this emotionally invested in the team since our last postseason.
That is the feeling that we’ve been starved of for about 6 years now. The feeling where something is on the line where it actually means something. But more importantly, it’s the feeling of where this team is headed for in the future. There was a new dawn after the Iginla/Kipper years where a rebuild was in place. A new found patience had set in which accepted the old guard had moved on and it would take a few years of pain to move this team in the right direction. But now, the feeling is entrenched in new found excitement because even if we don’t make it this year there is a core of young players there now who are going to be the bedrock of this team for years to come. I’m talking Monahan, Gaudreau and Bennett; cornerstone players for a franchise who can make the difference between winning and losing. We may well have struck gold with all 3.

This years fight to get to the playoffs has been stressful, and will continue to be for the next 8 games. It will be emotionally draining if we don’t make it, but it also comes with an investment that the future is bright with the young players we have. Next season with Giordano, an even better Brodie, Monahan, Gaudreau, Bennett and other key pieces we will be even better. Playoffs or not, it’s a good time to be a Flames fan.

From what I remember over the years the Flames have played reasonably well on March 27th even if it is the day they traded Iginla..... So hopefully they can find a way to collect 2 points tonight.

Since it's my day of birth, I do have a few Flames wins on this date that stand out to me. Most memorable one was in April of 2004 when they beat the Kings in OT in a Nationally televised game on ABC, thanks to Christobal Huet's weak glove hand not stopping a Craig Conroy wrister.

If we win tonight, there will be 5 teams within 3 points for 4 playoff spots. That's nuts.

I think this is great, personally. It makes just getting into the playoffs a huge accomplishment in itself. If we were just battling one team, like the Boston-Ottawa battle in the east, it would be fun but not as entertaining. We get a month or more of scoreboard-watching, nail-biting, nerve-wracking excitement which will likely take us right to the last game of the year. Thats entertainment. These guys have heart. Heck, all these teams do. GFG!

#Flames forward Paul Byron has been activated from the IR and is available for selection to play as early as this evening.

I have not watched a ton of Wild hockey, but im surprised that teams have not been taking a few liberties with Dubnyk. The guy has been the "rock" for the Wild's resurgence. If I am the Flames, my goal is to make life miserable for him. Stand in front, crash the crease, get in his space and get in his head.

Have teams not been doing this? Or are the Wild excellent at keeping him comfortable? I'm not advocating anything like run into him full speed or anything, but I would be doing absolutley everything to throw him off a bit.

A win here, and we're back where we were a couple days ago. One point from being 2nd in the division and one point out
