We need to start Bouma Backlund Jones, and have all three crash the net so hard the first shift, Dubnyk thinks he's still playing for Edmonton when the melee settles.
Yes, I'm in that kind of a mood today

haha, Gaskal, it would be good to see some energy and crashing and banging from the start of this game. Set the tone early and control the game. I want to get the lead early and never look back tonight.
3-1 Flames, Monahan, Brodie and Backs score tonight.

Lineup subject to change
@NHLFlames: Bob Hartley is still deciding on his lineup tonight and that everyone is a "game-time decision." #CGYvsMIN

Send a big message to Colborne and Raymond tonight in hopes that it wakes them up. Right now I don't see the line-up listed below as being any worse off without them.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler
Bouma - Backlund - Jones
Ferland - Stajan - Jooris
Bollig - Shore - Granlund

Gio traveled with the team on the road trip:
http://calgaryherald.com/sports/hock...ial-for-flames
Quote:
Embarking on another arduous journey, the Calgary Flames are packing the essentials.
Sweaters? Check.
Sticks? Check.
Tape? Check.
Captain? Check.
Yes, Mark Giordano, according to coach Bob Hartley, is joining his teammates for the upcoming — and potentially playoff-fate-deciding — swing though St. Paul, Minn., Nashville, Dallas, St. Louis and Edmonton.
The Flames star, because of biceps surgery, is done for the season.
But Giordano’s impact continues — even with the squad back on the road.
“He said when he went down that he wanted to be around the team as much as possible,” says Josh Jooris. “His leadership comes through, even off the ice. It’s great to have him around. He’s a very positive guy and he’s talking to everyone. It’s great — his presence around this dressing room is felt. It’s great that he’s still around the team.”
|
Quote:
Common are coaches who chase away the wounded chaps, forcing them to go through early-morning treatment sessions before the regulars show up. The thinking — players shouldn’t be reminded who is missing. It’s a disruption no one needs, right?
That’s not Hartley, though.
“Everywhere I’ve coached, injured guys are part of the team,” says Hartley. “Hey, if a player becomes a distraction — whether he doesn’t play or he’s injured — then we address it. But a player that is injured is still part of the team. Whoever got injured … they’re always around the team.
“They sit in the team meetings and everything. They’re still part of the family.”
|
Quote:
“Practices, meetings, he’s around,” Jones says. “I’ve been in that spot and you feel so isolated when you’re hurt. You feel like you’re not part of the team. It’s great for us to have him around, but I think for him, too. We’d definitely miss him if he wasn’t here.
“I think it’s good for him, mentally, to just be a part of the team. He’s a great guy and a good leader. Even when he’s not playing, he’s a good face to have around. He keeps guys loose.”
|
Quote:
“He’s usually back in the lounge,” says Joe Colborne. “He keeps a low profile. But he’s always in there talking to guys. If he sees a guy struggling or something, he’s the first one to go talk to him. He’s still our captain — that hasn’t changed. And, certainly, his standing in the room hasn’t changed, either. There’s so much respect for him.
“Everyone knows how much we miss him on the ice. But the off-ice stuff is what makes him so special.”
So imagining Giordano being shooed from the rink, being kept from the players — his players — does not compute.
“He’s the glue to this dressing room,” says Jooris. “It would be kind of weird not seeing Gio around the room, to be honest with you.”

It would be super cool if Giordano could be at the game with the team for support and advice. Is there anything officially prohibiting an injured player to be behind the players on the bench (dressed in suit, not in uniform)?

I have never liked playing Minnesota. They always seem to play against us well.
This is gut check time for this team.

I don't see it as an issue. Can definitely see Hartley doing that.

The Granlunds going head-to-head should be fun. Markus does not like talking about his brother. I sense some serious competitiveness there.

Iginla has scored more goals on the Wild than any other player in the Wild Franchise history. I think it's about time for Monahan to start chipping away at that record.

Hoping for a good start. Need to just stay in the game because they are going to come out firing. Try and have a good first period and put them under pressure.
