Yeah I don't think we're in any position to be calling teams that are comfortably ahead of us terrible.

Oh how I rue that 0-7-1 stretch right now.

I mean gawdamitt, if they just beat TOR and BUF in that stretch, we are pretty much home and cooled here with 91 points.

All kidding aside, the Canucks are the worst team in the league by far. Man are they bad.

Sorry, you bet on NYI to win, but you hope you're wrong and you lose your bet, meaning LA wins? I'm confused. Who do you cheer for?

Honestly every time I've watched them lately I've been baffled, just baffled at how they are where they are in the standings.

we really can't think this way...if they picked up some points during that slump, maybe they're not as desperate for some games after that and they end up losing a few more. this team is fueled by desperation, so adding points to that big winless skid probably doesn't get them 91 points now in my opinion.

it's like a butterfly effect or uh, chaos theory? Hartley uh, finds a way?

Exactly. It's like those people who rued the day St. Louis left because he ended up helping to seal our fate in 2004. "If he was on our team still, we would've won for sure!" Uhhh... no. If he was on our team, EVERYTHING would have been different. Who knows, maybe it would set off a chain of events that lead us to trading away Iginla or something crazy. Same thing with the 8 game slide. Everything that came after was influenced by it, so if it wasn't there, everything would've been different. That was a character building moment the way the team responded to that adversity, who knows how it would've played out had we went .500 instead. Maybe we'd be on an 8 game losing streak now instead...

Good, as crazy as that sounds.

Just need something to change the dynamic of that team...anything. They've done extremely well without him in the lineup. Maybe his return will cause some of the unsung heroes to step back.

These playoff teams need to step it up in the final stretch against the Kings! Just for the fact that's a team I'm sure no one wants to play in the playoffs.

Exactly.

I want LA to lose so I bet $20 that they win. That way it's win-win for me.

I always bet against the outcome I personally want.

That still doesn't make sense. Your original post said you bet $20 on NYI to win...

In their DNA:

Really, what was Markus Naslund’s defining moment? For too many, it was the “we choked” apology speech after a stretch drive collapse that cost them a division title.

I don't think other teams really think about that. They just want to solidify their own spot. The Islanders don't care if the Kings get in or not; if they win the game they'll have played well enough to beat them. That's pretty much all there is to it.

Sorry I want LA to lose so I bet on them to win. That way I'm either $20 richer or the Flames get some much needed help on the OOT scoreboard.

I did the same for Canada in the Olympics and many other times.

The Flames just need to go 5-3 in their last 8 games. We have the Coyotes and Oilers as 2/8 games, so making the playoffs is definitely doable.
