The point isn't that one team should be mad or anger, its just an interesting discussion on what effect the shootout and overtime time points have on the play off races
Just for fun, in 3-2-1 system Flames would be 27-13-27-6 (W - OTW - L - OTL) good for 113 points. Kings would be 33-3-23-14 and sit with 119 points or 2 wins ahead of the Flames.

Why argue hypotheticals? We are where we are, the kings are where they are. All teams knew the system going into the year. Seems dumb to whine about something like this. If we don't make the playoffs it will be because we weren't good enough to, loser point or no loser point. You can look directly to the 8 game losing streak if we do in fact miss.

I think I have passed the point of anger and drifted to slightly bemused as far as the OOT goes.
Its quite ridiculous how these teams just keep winning.

I think at this point expecting anything other than a 3 point game with a win for Winnipeg (I think this is worse for our chances) is foolish. If the Flames make the playoffs, they are going to have to earn it themselves, the hockey gods are clear on that.

If the Jets lose tonight they are right there for the taking, and LA's schedule is still tough. A 3-game skid for Minny (I know, not likely, but possible) puts them in serious danger of missing. Every team still has eighteen points available. Still pretty open right now with how bunched the teams are. The way we feel as we look at the Flames is exactly how every other team's fans feel. It is no different.

Um, Mike Smith may have just made a save of the year candidate. Waiting on replay.

We've had 6 games go to the shootout, of those we've won 4. 6 Shootout games is the second lowest in the NHL and 4 shootout wins 4 wins is the third lowest shootout win total. We're tied for 3rd best extra time record at 13-6

Flames are 4-2 in shootouts hardly a major reason for their position, they have likely had fewer shootouts than almost anyone...and quit using that word to sound smart we all saw shawshank

Looking at how the teams are playing now, 2 losses in a row and you are out.

All we can do is keep winning and keep applying the pressure.
The Wild and Jets have basically thrown down the gauntlet and said 'beat us if you can'. And now the Kings are employing the same motto. The only time it doesn't work is when they play each other.
We just need to take care of our business, because if you think this is excruciating wait and see what it feels like if we're actually relying on teams to lose to get us back in. Control your own destiny for as long as you can.

After years of watching the Flames try and fail to catch teams for a playoff spot, it feels damn good to see them fighting to hold off teams from below. I'll take this 10/10 times.

Wasn't speaking directly to you with that, more just the general sentiment regarding the loser point. People lampoon LA for so many loser points but fact is if they were as good as us in the gimmick coin flip BS sideshow, we'd be in the outside looking in. Or say we lose all 6 instead of going 4-2, then we have 82 points and we're toast. Just not understanding the frustration.

Is anyone even going to watch this game? Cheering for no overtime seems less than fun.

Tanev signs a big new contract and blows a tire. Scheiffle (or whatever) has an awesome opportunity but Lack throws out a quick pad. Entertaining game so far, despite the fact I hate one team and dislike the other.
Tlusty!!

The BJs beat the Ducks 5-3.
The Coyotes and Red Wings have been alternating goals all game and it is 4-4 in overtime.
The Habs now lead 2-1 in the third period.
