Flames to announce plans to announce arena plans in the... future...

Not sure if posted but apparently King told an audience last night that any announcement about an arena not come until "after the election", presumably the provincial one.

This was first hand by someone who attended an event.

King can get bent. Obviously it is their arena/stadium and they can do/announce whatever they want, but King should just shut his mouth and stop leading people on.

King is being asked direct questions and hes answering what he can, he obviously cant tell much so he tells what he can, but if you dont want cagey answers then stop asking questions that you know will only lead to cagey answers and leave King the hell alone.

Pure speculation, but if they were going to ask for provincial funding, and since Edmonton didn't get any, it would cause a lot of lost seats in Edmonton if the tories said yes prior to the vote.

If expected provincial funding weren't part of this, why wait for an election?

Don't know what the hell your problem is but I have never asked King personally nor have I ever asked on here. I'm simply responding to what others have posted on here and what they have asked/heard. King just needs to stop answering questions if he can't provide substantial information. At the very least, he should keep his cagey comments consistant and stop changing them every day.

I'm just tired of hearing this constant "announcement soon", or "within days", or "after the election". Either announce the damn thing or shut your mouth until you decide to announce it that day. King doesn't owe you, or anyone else and answer. The Flames don't need to share any information with you either so why get so uptight.

My guess is the Flames will approach the Province for funding specifically for environmental remediation and some of the infrastructure upgrades. So the province would be supporting the overall redevelopment (on things needed whether the arena goes there or not) but they can say they're not paying directly for arena costs.

Thanks, do you know if Edmonton received provincially funded infrastructure upgrades that could be considered connected to their arena?

Ah crap, an election hasn't even been announced and the arena announcement is after that?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not on the 'ZOMG King needs to shut his mouth side' and feel no entitlement to an announcement, but I get my hopes up every time. Every time. I don't know how or why, but I do.
