Doesn't look like much has changed on the BB100 end, in fact I seem to be rolling the Bandwidth Of The Beast

I'd like to but I'm not knowledgeable enough about what I'm asking for? don't want to end up like that French reporter asking Iggy repeatedly "setting up the play?!"

Last month I was getting fairly consistent 18-20mbps download, this month it seems hard pressed to get over 15, and during "peak times" it's closer to 7-8.

I signed years ago and haven't changed my package at all, but based on price and bandwidth cap I think I'm on Internet 15 currently.

Ya mine is steady 53-55 mbps in the Kensington area on BB50. I would say jaydorn it is probably your area.

I have High Speed 25 (now Internet 30 for new users?) with Shaw. I haven't noticed any issues with speed lately, and I've been downloading a bunch of games off Steam and watching streaming video quite a bit. I'm able to hit 3.0 MB/s on Steam downloads regularly which I believe is close to 25 Mbps.

My wifi seems to be getting worse over time but I have a feeling that it has to with the 20 wifi networks I can see in my living room.

My connection has been great in Edmonton. When I was with telus a while ago my Netflix would constantly buffer and internet speed would drop whenever we use more than two TVs.

No complaints with Shaw. I don't necessarily agree with the price increase but I can see why they did it. Pricing out telus now, they're the same price as shaw. Why is shaw getting all the flack?

Are you connected by wire to get that speed on bb100?

I use my laptop and have tested in all rooms never get anywhere close to 100.
Normally between 44-55.
Wired sometimes I get up to 75. Edit in Royal Oak

When I call support they say all connections look fine.

Just in Dec they gave me their "advanced" wifi modem but really no change

Note I am nowhere close to an expert on any of this.

That is wired. I don't do wireless except for smartphones/tablets/wificams.

I only use Shaw's "basic" level modem (the new Cisco one, my old American Telecom-whatever died a few months ago) as a gateway between a Cisco router I have preconfigured.

Note I am in North Central, which historically gets great Shaw speeds. I've broke 100 everywhere from Thorncliffe, Huntington Hills, Beddington Heights, up to my house in Harvest Hills.

Try plugging in directly to the shaw modem and perform your speed test (if you aren't already). To reach 100 mbps on wireless, you will most likely have to be on 5 ghz, preferably on AC, and ensure you are on a channel without interference.

Yeah, the Shaw guy just gave me a new modem yesterday to 'increase my speed' which I didnt ask for or really care about, but my bill just jumped by $50 a month for my business account.

I will never bad mouth shaw again. Just spent an hour on the phone with them trying to set up a new laptop.turned out it was not their fault.it was me not using my brain. I felt totally stupid but the shaw rep walked me through it. She gets a Christmas card next year.

Well I called Shaw earlier this month, went through the phone tree to cancellations and just straight up said "You've upped by bill again, and it seems like my speed has taken a dive this month... I'm interested in getting a faster package, is there any incentives available to me?"

Got my bill lowered by $5 a month and getting the Internet 30 package for the reduced internet 15 price for 12 months. New modem set up this evening and I'm flying.

So for now, I'm a happy Shaw customer again.

Anyone have or know of any good deals in Calgary for good Internet/TV rates/bundles (willing to sign up to a 1 year agreement)...contact me if you know of anything. Thanks.

If it helps, already have current TV/internet services at one home location, looking for another...not sure if that would help in getting a better rate.

Not looking for anything fancy, just trying to find the cheapest rate for internet/cable.

I was pleasantly surprised that Shaw let me keep my current internet plan through a recent move.
