Lets beat Dallas Wednesday to finish the homestand 3-1-1, then go 3-2 if possible (or better) on the roadtrip.

Then take care of Arizona at home. That's 5 wins, and we can always make things easier by beating LA and/or Winnipeg to end the season.

Maybe just me but I'm not sure 96 points is automatically playoffs.

If you stare at the standings long enough, can you eventually see how it ends? I keep trying...

Well that should be the nail in the Avalanche coffin. Next put the nail in Dallas, and fine by me if they do it to LA on the second last night of the season. Start killing these guys off now because theres 4 more teams you want to eliminate come playoffs.

I sometimes forget the Flames are doing this(keeping pace in this tight race) without Giordano. Truly unbelievable.

96 points with the tie breaker

LA would have to be pretty good to beat that, better go for 98 just to be safe though

No points for a shootout loss would be an even worse system though without a doubt. Removing the shootout and counting them as ties under the old system gives:

Calgary
36 wins, 31 losses, 6 ties
78 points in 73 games

Los Angeles
33 wins, 30 losses, 9 ties
75 points in 72 games

Pretty much exactly where they are now when you give Calgary the ROW tiebreaker.

Just noticed that was the 40th win on the season. What a huge accomplishment for this team.

Hope!??? Hahahaha nope!

I believe!!!!!!

The only thing I hope for is that the Kings don't choke too hard on their tears when we beat them 6-2 and crush their playoff hopes in April.

At their current pace, it would take the Oilers 144 games to get to the 40 win plateau.

Or just no points for losses. Flames lose 6 points for 80 and the kings lose 14 for 70. These two teams shouldn't even be close and the loser point is a joke.

But then you're left with a shootout where 2 points goes to winner and 0 points goes to loser? The shootout is a joke enough, giving it even more responsibility in determining the standings is the absolute worst case scenario.

Lance Bouma is 4th on the team in goals, behind

Monahan
Hudler
Gaudreau

That's impressive.

Oh yea, forgot to mention ..... this is the 8th time that Bob Hartley has hit the 40 win mark in a season. Congrats on the great work Bob!

Not sure how he spent time out of the NHL.

Haynes just tweeted a stat that Bouma has the same amount of even strength goals as guys like Hossa, Vanek and Ryan.

Considering how little PP time Bouma gets, its not a stretch to think that he could be a legitimate 20 goal guy.

Disagree.

It was a pretty even game. As was the game in Colorado.

To have each team win one seems absolutely reasonable. To suggest the Flames didn't deserve it is to look for something that simply isn't there

That puts a bullet in San Jose. All we need to do now is focus on beating out LA.
