Damn. Would have been helpful (and deserved, LOL @ player safety). Burrows having another shift probably saved Toffoli.

Not shocked at all.
It's the biggest market team and defending champion, currently on the outside looking in. Suspension is bad for business.
What did Sutter say in 04? Maybe it's New York calling?

Here's the rundown by games over 0.500:
Anaheim +26 (9 GR)
St Louis +24 (10 GR)
Nashville +23 (9 GR)
Chicago +21 (11 GR)
Vancouver +15 (11 GR)
Minnesota +15 (10 GR)
Winnipeg +14 (10 GR)
Calgary +12 (10 GR)
----------------------------------
LA +11 (11 GR)
Colorado +7 (11 GR)
San Jose +6 (10 GR)
Dallas +6 (10 GR)
If the race is to 14, unless Winnipeg and above finish sub 0.500, it's a 2 horse race as many have opined

Compared to last year, it would be awesome seeing 5 Canadian teams make the playoffs compared to 1 in the east and 0 in the west.

All 4 of those teams outside looking in were in the playoffs last year. Looks like three of them will miss for sure, and the Kings might just join them as well.

This. If that would have been one of our guys instead of TT it would have been at least two games.

Should have been atleast a game. That was pretty brutal and had people who hate Burrows with no stake in the Western race (mostly Bruins fans) saying how bad the hit was.
Yet...

When are we even with the amounts of games with L.A and Vancouver? Or are they going to have a game in hand against us till the end of the season?

Vancouver will be even after tonight. Then, the Flames and Canucks play on alternating nights, so they'll be even every other night from here until the end. The Kings and Flames have similar schedules for the next while, so the Flames will basically have one more game played most night up until April 6.

It looks like the Canucks have pulled ahead of the Flames for good now and the Wild are too good right now to be stopped. It's between the Jets, Flames and Kings for the final two spots. Colorado, San Jose and Dallas are done.

Short of an insane losing streak by other teams that's the way it is looking. With the low rate of shootout wins we rack up LA and WPG would have to pass us in points because they won't pass us in ROW.

Unless you are looking for help, OOT and what other teams are doing is not relevant.
6-4 will get Flames in.

It was a bad and dumb hit, but I also think Burrows really looks like he is being dramatic. Not intentionally, but I wonder if the flailing arms and legs everywhere played a role in the league's decision?

As you might expect, the likeliest outcome is that the Flames get a spot at the expense of either LA or Winnipeg right now - and about 3 times likelier that LA is the team on the outside if the Flames are going to get in.

The Kings have 11 games left, and only 3 at home.
They have 2 back-to-back games as well. Quick is playing a lot of hockey.
The Kings play the Oilers twice.
The Flames have 10 games left, and only 4 at home.
They have 1 back-to-back.
The Flames play the Coyotes and Oilers.
Excluding the auto-4 points for their EDM, AZ matchups:
Flames have 8 games left. Kings have 9 games left.
Kings play: @NJ, @NYR, @NYI, @MIN, @CHI, COL, @VAN, @CGY, SJ
Flames play: COL, DAL, @MIN, @NSH, @DAL, @STL, LA, @WPG
Both schedules are difficult. They play each other once. Flames are up 2 points and win the tie-breaker.

If the Flames can win the bolded games, they'll be good to go IMO.

Also, Nashville isn't the same Nashville as earlier in the season. Their offence has really dried up lately. They play the Flames on a second night of the back-to-back, and it's an afternoon game. I hope the Flames see Hutton instead of Rinne.

Record required to get to 96 points:
Probably in:
Vancouver 4-6-0
Minnesota 4-5-1
Fighting for two spots:
Winnipeg 5-5-0
Calgary 6-4-0
Los Angeles 7-4-0
Probably out:
Colorado 9-2-0
San Jose 9-1-0
Dallas 9-1-0
