Call me a homer, but I don't trade Monahan - Bennett for any pair of centermen in the league. Outside of something ridiculous like McDavid and Eichel.

The Flames should search for a winger with better size to play on the Monahan-Gaudreau line.

There's really only one free-agent, right winger with size who could step onto a first line and that's Drew Stafford. Who I actually wouldn't mind us grabbing at all. He's put up 13 points in 16 games with Winnipeg since he got traded, and I think he'd look great on that first line.
Back to Bennett:
I am very, very excited to see him play NHL hockey next year. I believe he will be good.

Personally I think the Flames shop some of their excess picks to cap strapped teams to fill a top 6 role on the team.
I think Bennett is going to be fantastic next year and will make a significant impact on the team

North Bay is a grind it out, old school Minnesota Wild type team. It will be a tough series to put up many points. Kingston does have the better goalie though so I would expect them to win this but would be surprised if its a cake-walk.

Anyone know if sportsnet is planning to put any Kingston games on the tube? I assume it will be all McDavid all the time if they do show OHL playoffs.

You don't trade a 20 year old 30 goal scoring, defensively solid center with a great attitude, that has unreal chemistry with two wingers which together form one of the best lines in the NHL who is also on an entry level contract. You just don't.
For every Crosby there's a Daigle.

Bennett already involved early. Made a big drive out of the corner and almost stuffs it in.
Also took a hit his first shift and didn't like it. Took a number for sure.

Great early pace and physicality.
On his second shift Bennett took the puck from the corner to the front of the net and almost scored. First chance foe either team.

something else haha

I would really like to see Bennett start off a whole year at the wing. Adapt to the pace and skill level and then move to center in the 2nd year. Similar to how Seguin was developed

1-0 NB after one.
Bennett and Crouse had a great chance late. After a turnover, Bennett went behind the back to Crouse. He went around the D and back to Bennett who was alone in front. But the puck bounced over his stick.

Out of curiosity. If they did get bumped in the 1st round would Calgary bring Sam up or would they just stay the course and wait till next year?

Next year this team is going to be scary good. Just need one good rh dman and a right winger and we'll be top 10 in the league. Imagine two top line players plus Bennett and Giordano added to this team, yikes! Can't wait until next season. Bennett is a juggernaut, old school style grit with new school training.

I think the Flames need a spark so if that were the case, I think they would bring him up.
The last time the team was in a funk, it was a little youthful exuberance from Ortio that got them going again.
All year, it's been the young guys coming in and boosting the team when they are down so I think they would bring Bennett up.
